I just received a 2024 case russlock and the stamp appears to be raised instead of stamped into the blade. I was wondering if it might be a fake https://imgur.com/a/

I’m not happy about it eitherThey're Lazer etched now, and that's definitely a legitimate knife ( only antique Case knives are really being faked ).
It's fine on SS blades I suppose, but it can disappear quite easily on a 1095 blade ( especially the model number on the back of the secondary blades ) and I'm unhappy about it.
It helps keep cost down, but even that's starting to matter less to me because there's gradually fewer and fewer offerings I want.I’m not happy about it either

I don't know if the markings wear off, just that a solid patina can really make them hard to see.Hickory n steel - Do you have an example of a laser marking wearing off a carbon steel/1095 blade quicker than a stainless blade? The laser marked indian in a canoe on my new 62131 Canoe is rather blured and I'd like to remove it but no matter what it will probably always remain as a ghost. Too bad that Case doesn't realize that there are some of us willing to pay more for a clean, sharp, stamp rather than a cheap etch or blury laser mark.

BTW I wasn't talking about the blade etch, but the tang stamp markings.
I don't have any CS Case knives with etchings ( does Case even etch CS blades ever ? ) so I couldn't say.
My only 2 etched Case knives actually are an SS sodbuster Jr and my BSA half whittler.
I guess I don't pay attention to all models. My Canoe has CS steel. Stay tuned - I'll let y'all know what happens as time goes by.
Marking with a stamp is inexpensive. Making them is not. Stamps are cheaper until you need to change the information all the time.It surprises me that laser is cheaper/more cost effective than stamping....I don't know much about how the Case production line works but I would have thought Laser machines are v.expensive or theres a stamp dye and you hit it...![]()
