Awhile back I was considering the Case CV Texas Jack in amber bone, but ultimately decided on a Boker copperhead in smooth red bone.

Well, I just did the next best thing to buying myself a knife - I bought it as a gift for someone else. My Dad's birthday is coming up. Hope he likes it!

Foilist, I am sure your father will enjoy the knife. I just received one the other day and it makes a dandy edc, and whittles nice. Might be my favorite case yet! Hope you and your father both enjoy your blades. Joe

Very nice, Foilist! Bit of advice, when you get it, wrap it up immediately. Or else you are not going to want to give it away. Try not to look at it!

I just recently gave my brother-in-law a Large Moore Maker Trapper...had a heck of a time parting with it!

I just did the same thing and bought my brother the Case small texas Jack in CV amber bone, and oh man did I like! It's going to be on my christmas list this year, definately!

I ordered it online and had it sent directly to him so I could avoid that trap!

My father isn't really a knife guy, but he does a lot of farm, shop, and outdoor work, and he does appreciate fine tools. It would please me greatly if he started carrying it regularly.

Brilliant!

By the way, I really like that Case CV Texas Jack, too. If someone sent me one, I'd be happy.

One of these found its way into my pocket recently, and I couldn't be more pleased with it. Very nice knife! Everything about mine was perfect right out of the box. I find it an extremely comfortable size and weight, and love the blades. The little pen is just different enough to not really be a pen, almost like a Wharny/Pen. Great snap to the blades (no half stops, however), flat, even springs, super sharp. I'm also really pleased with the Amber Bone scales. Very nice looking and even colored. This would be a great knife for the guy looking for a simple pocket knife, or as part of a collection.

Contrast this to my recent post about my new Sway Back Jack. Here we have a sub $40 Texas Jack with CV steel that has had more care and attention put into its assembly and QA than a $100 Sway Back Jack in Tru-Sharp and stag. Oh, but the Texas Jack doesn't come with a little tin... :)

Sam, do I detect sarcasm? ;)

Yep. That "32" pattern and it's larger sibling, the "92" in Texas Jack (premium jack) configuration are a couple of my favorites.

They carry well and get the job done.

That modified pen blade was the basis for the secondary blade I requested on the recent double blade "Hunter" I received from Ken Erickson.

The "92" (Large) Texas Jack has become a favorite of mine since Blues pointed them out to me a month or so back. I have picked up three so far (under $30 each for them shipped!). None of the little ones yet, but they are on my birthday / Christmas want list.

My first one (with my Camillus 14) that I paid too much for given it's condition:

Nicely done, Revolvergeek.

Strange co-incidence,today the postman fetched a packet all the way from Pearsall TEXAS to my door in Finland.Inside was a CASE Amber Bone Small Texas Jack in CV:D

The knife first saw the light of day in April 04 but had been lurking in its cocoon at the dealer's ever since. Friends, I can't find ANY fault with this knife(except that I should've got one earlier!)A dip in some mineral oil to flush it out and now I'm hard at work on it cutting limes, cherries, garlic any and everything acidic I can find to encourage Dr Patina to work his magic. Amber Bone is a clear favourite of mine-superior to low quality so-so stag in my view, the knife's finish is first rate, sharp,no gaps, rough edges, wobble, and the snap:eek: I'm really taken with the modified pen-blade, it's almost like some European spear-blades.A new knife with authenticity and when you think that this cost me 42 dollars including postage half way across the world it is a tremendous bargain for a well-made and highly appealing working knife.

If you don't have one or you've given it away, then get one.I'm convinced it's going to turn my world around so that I can stop all this knife buying&mania&settle down and spend more time with my existing knives....Right:D

 indeed! Well stated.

Then you had to go on with that last paragraph... ;) I tell myself that every time a new knife or gun crosses my "interest radar". I think I've finally reached the point that I can just sit back, let the passion consume me, and enjoy spending myself silly.

Hey guys,

I was thinking about a Swayback jack, but that Small Texas Jack CV is really under my skin!! Please give me a review about how you guys feel about the Texas Jack CV in Amber. How it the f&f and most importantly. How does it carry in your pocket, hold in your hand and how is it in "action" ie edc stuff. Unfortunately, I have some knives that are a pain to use, a pain to carry and a pain to look at. So "comfort" is big to me. Thanks in advance, Much appreciated.

God Bless

Kid, it's a great knife on all counts. Get one. You won't be sorry. 'Nuff said.

The Texas Jack in CV is an excellent pattern and execution, in my opinion. I just bought two of them to put away for my boys. I don't really need another knife, but I'm kicking around getting one for me. It's like a much improved peanut, in my opinion. Same great design, but not so tiny!

I really miss the sheepsfoot blade when I'm not carrying a stockman, though.

For another $2 there is a stockman in the same 75 pattern as the jack.
You get the sheepsfoot!

The small Texas Jack is a "32" pattern. (3.5"-3 5/8")

The large Texas Jack is a "92" pattern. (4")

The "75" pattern is 4 1/4". Not just longer but heftier than the "92".

Offered solely as points of information.
