Case Texas Jack CV

The small Texas Jack is a "32" pattern. (3.5"-3 5/8")

The large Texas Jack is a "92" pattern. (4")

The "75" pattern is 4 1/4". Not just longer but heftier than the "92".

Offered solely as points of information.

Thanks,

My mistake. I meant "32" pattern.

In Amber Bone CV, there is both a jack and stockman in the "32" pattern.

The Small Texas Jack also has a center brass liner/spacer that adds to the heft and strength (ok, maybe only a little). It's a nice touch.

re: kidwholaughs Check out reply #9 above for my recent review of this knife, as well as the link I provide to the other topic where I review the Sway Back.

IMO (obviously) the Sway Back is a cute, new pattern that Case is launching to much fanfare. In reality you're looking at a smaller knife with much smaller blades, Tru-Sharp only, and at a minimum $25-30 more than the Small Texas Jack. The Wharncliff on the Sway Back is nice, but it's a small blade, and the handle length is about 3-1/8" compared to the 3-5/8" S.T.J.

I've been eyeing one of these myself, but was wondering, how are the squarish bolsters on Case knives comfort-of-carry-wise? I have an Eye Brand congress with squarish bolsters and the corners of the bolsters where they meet the liners have a pretty sharp edge to them and actually did a good number on a pair of khakis. I've tried to stay with round bolsters ever since.

The 6232 is a great little knife. I got a used one for five bucks last year, and I carry it often. One of the most practical jackknife sizes ever, to my mind. Small enough to go in slacks w/o weighing them down too much, but long enough to hold onto and work with when it comes time to get to cutting.

There are only two handle materials that I know of being made currently both in SS. Barnboard brown and Jet black delrin. Awhile back some guy got one and said it was his "grail" of jackknives. But I really wish that they would do a CV version of it.

Update: Case is coming out with one by Crandall Cut.

I have been carrying the small texas jack CV/amber bone for well over a year now. This knife may be my all time favorite case knife. The fit and finish is fantastic and the CV steel holds a great edge. I have been letting it take a patina naturally hanging out in my pocket and for cutting whatever comes in my way and I couldn't be more happy with it. This knife will be with me for a long time! (although I just got a chesnut bone peanut in CV for my anniversarry :) The springs have just enough tension to give it a nice "snap" but they arent nailbreakers like my double springed XX whittler! USA made with a life time warrenty you cant beat it. Case has stepped up on quality control these last few years in my opinion.

I think it was Stu (FLymon) here that put me onto the small Texas jack (62032) in amber bone. It was my first Texas jack and is the perfect pocket size for me. It is very comfortable in the hand and the size and shapes of the blades are great. The amber bone looks good too. I have since bought a stag rancher version of the knife (still with CV) and a pinched bolster, olive bone, Tru-sharp version as well. I like them all. You probably will take right to that knife. It makes a great gift as well.

I've got one of the amber CV Texas Jacks in transit as we speak! Really hoping it gets here tomorrow. [a large internet knife seller] has 'em on sale and I jumped on it; seeing all the great comments in this thread are really making me feel like I made a wise choice. :)
