Decided the old CASE XX Swell-End jack knife that I asked about in an earlier post is just too big to carry comfortably in my left front pocket. I'll just put it back up in the closet. Course I still need a small two bladed slip joint for secondary carry. I think I've fixed this need by picking up a small Texas Jack. With a primary blade of 2.5" and a smaller pen blade at 1.75", and an overall length of 3.5" it fits perfectly. Blades are chrome-vandium and came surprisingly sharp but after a few moments on my 204 it is decidely sharp. Handle material is cranberry jigged bone(I think). Pattern number is 62032. Fit and finish are excellent and except for a rounded point on the main blade should serve me well.

Any thoughts on this pattern? or others for that matter!

Great Pattern!!! If it is made of carbon steel (chrome vanadium or CV) then it is what Case calls Amber Bone. That is I am assuming it is a new knife.

Far and away my favorite user slipjoint is my Old Timer Middleman Jack. I like that each of the blades folds straight into the handle and are divided by a brass liner, not like most stockmans, where one or two of the blades is at an angle so they'll all fit when closed. The stockman gets most of the limelight around here, but this two-blade jack really handles every job I've ever needed done.

If - God forbid - I ever do lose it, I'll probably go with the Case Small Texas Jack in CV steel of course!

Had the same knife last year, and foolishly traded it away. Now, thanks to you, I'm gonna have to go out and get me another! :)

Knifeaholic, once again you are correct! Thanks! Danbo, I carried it today for the first full day and have to say it rides well and performed every task I put it too today. The thing I like about these "older" knives is that they have some heft to them even though they are fairly light overall. I was looking for something a little different from a trapper pattern or stockman pattern, even though both are proven performers. About a year ago I had picked up a large Texas jack and it proved to be a bit big as a secondary carry knife.......I always have a larger folder in my right pocket and right now it is a 4" bladed LDC-5 by J.W. Smith.......so I looked at and bought a Case Sowbelly brcause I really loved the shape, but again it proved to be too large. I was looking at a Gunstock pattern and a mini-trapper pattern when i found this small texas Jack. Glad I waited for it!:D
