I just bought a Case 364-5 SS hunting knife and it's a really good knife. It does have the Tru-Sharp stainless and I find nothing wrong with it. The only thing I could really find anything wrong is just that the blade could be a bit bigger handle fits perfectly like it was meant for me. I know this thread is old but I just thought I would say something about it since I have and used my knife since buying it. Didn't even sharpen it yet. ...
I know it's an old thread, but you kept the first part on topic, so kudos on that. I also tend to agree with the latter half of your reply, but personally I would have worded it more gently ; )
Just one minor point to add about the steel itself... case ss is actually the same as buck's 420hc (aka latrobe 420hc), the only difference is buck hardens it 3 or 4 points more, which does help keep the edge longer
