I'd like to post this in the general discussion also. I just bought a Case RussLock 7057 Navy Blue Bone pocket knife. Never thought I would want to own a traditional folder again. I was stuck on youtube a few nights ago and happened upon some Case Trapperlock and Russlock reviews. Brought me back to the beginning of pocket knives and some of the heritage and history behind all of this. The reason, I guess, we are all here on this forum. With all of the amazing folders and tactical folders out there, I forgot about simplicity. Reminded how less is more. So, as I wait for my first Case, I am hungry searching for more. I see GEC(which look amazing) Canal Street and Queen Cutlery. I am thinking about purchasing the Case Trapperlock with synthetic delrin also.

Congratulations on the new knife. I love the Navy Blue Bone Case knives. The Trapperlock has enticed me as well. I have one due in this week in Pocket Worn Red Bone. Update us on that Russlock when you get a chance.

Glad to see that you picked up a Russlock. The Russlock is a very nifty and IMO often overlooked pattern in the traditional knife world. Also I think that you will be very pleased with GEC's line of products and hopefully get a good sampling of their styling and quality they have a tone of patterns so it may be hard to choose your first.

Yeah, Case and GEC are calling my name. Love the sound of that snap! As they say, "walk and talk." So many to choose from. I think I am a fan of the single style blade though. Want a trapperlock also but GEC is calling my name. So many designs to choose from. Beautiful. I am afraid that Case will not have that "snap?" Is the quality of Case coming back around or doing a 180 degree turn finally? I know that a lot of guys were complaining a while back?

A yella Trapperlock is what led me to this forum in the first place. All I was looking for was a one handed but traditional style knife...which then led me to indulge myself in the collection I had started years ago (Zippo branded Case knives) and quickly got out of hand...

I love the Trapperlock, it's one of my favorites and spends more time clipped to a pocket than any of my other "modern" folders including Spyderco, Benchmade, Kershaw and a coupla Buck's.

I've always wanted to get my hands on a trapperlock. Maybe that will be the next one...right after the backpocket. I love my russlock (posted pic in general forum thread) and my TB swayback gent has the best FNF of any of the Case's that I own. It's great. Just wish it had a CV blade...but I guess I'll have to get a jack for that.

Yea, most if not all of the yellow scales come with CV blades, that and maybe amber bone models? The other styles/looks are kinda hit and miss...I just wish they had more availability for CV. It's such a beautiful transformation with the patina.

Give the Sway Back Jack a try. You wont be sorry. This one wont leave my pocket, not that I'm complaining :)

I've been browsing the various GEC retailers for the last couple of days NON Stop. I have a serious itch for a slip joint and the #61 Deluxe Coductor has really been calling my name.
Just need to decide if I want the snakewood or ivory. I don't know how you slip joint guys make any decisions with the endless patterns and scale possibilities. I guess thats why everyone
has so many :)

That's a great looking SBJ there combat...the local hardware store has that model and I think it's about time haha. I have a sky blue gent currently and absolutely love it!

This was my first Case knife and gift from a forum member. SunnyD gave it to me way back when I first was getting started. I still have it and will never let it goes. It reminds me of my start and past.

My son Ryan sliced his thumb with the Russlock whilst cutting up a pear this very evening.
Double bonus - sharp knife lesson(watch what you're doing) AND how to stop bleeding and apply a dressing.

I would suggest handling the knives before you buy them if you have that option. I have Case knives with excellent snap and I have Case knives with poor snap.
Another option would be to ask an online dealer to select one from his inventory that has the features you want.

In all honesty, you will probably have a better chance of getting a GEC with good snap. I own or have owned a fair amount of GEC's and only one of them has what I would consider weak snap.

They are both good brands but it can't hurt to ask the dealer to inspect your knife of choice before you purchase it.

I will add that the production knife I have in my pocket right now is a Case knife made in 2011 and it has excellent snap.

I agree with Rick, dealers are ready to go above and beyond to make their customers happy and to gain their trust.

I have had a lot of great experiences with GEC, the knives are not flawless, but they are sound and the Fit and Finish is head and shoulders above everybody else, IMO.
Case has a very good history of making knives, they have been doing it a long time, the problem for me, is that they changed just about everything. It's not as traditional as it used to be, but they still make a better knife than I can and I support them.
