CASE vs. GEC vs...Paying homage to the past.

I agree with Rick, dealers are ready to go above and beyond to make their customers happy and to gain their trust.

I have had a lot of great experiences with GEC, the knives are not flawless, but they are sound and the Fit and Finish is head and shoulders above everybody else, IMO.
Case has a very good history of making knives, they have been doing it a long time, the problem for me, is that they changed just about everything. It's not as traditional as it used to be, but they still make a better knife than I can and I support them.

Very well said Johnny. My most recent GEC is the best example I have seen from them period. Compared to my one and only Case/Bose I was very happy to say the GEC met the F/F of the Case/Bose and in some ways exceeded it. GEC has my support and sometimes I think they slip up, but for the most part I don't think they will rest on their reputation. Hopefully they will continue to build on it.

Im sure you have, but if others have not, its always interesting to look at the, "what's happening today" on GEC's site. It may surprise a few that think they are put together like Case knives. As far as I understand the Case/Bose are built on different tooling from the standard line all together. The only thing my Case Bose has over GEC, as far as construction, would be bushings and mill relieved liners. I don't like 'VS' threads though. I think its best to look at one at a time and decide if it offers what you are looking for. Okay, Im done babbling :)

I've tested both. GEC 1095 holds an edge noticeably better.

I think I narrowed it down to...on top of the Russlock I am waiting for I will get the Yellow Delrin trapperlock, wait for the Drop Point Russlock in June and....wait for it...I narrowed down my first GEC to the #25 Barlow/EZ Open Sheepsfoot in either Desert Sand Jig or Zebra Wood. Hmm. I'm leaning towards the smooth Zebra Wood.

Good choice for a first GEC. My first GEC was #25 Tidioute EZ Open Sheepsfoot in Red Bone. I have one of the 440C Zebra Woods as well. These make great little utility knives. Built like little tanks too.

Some of my new family!

I think the problem with Case is is they put out quantity over quality anymore, cutting corners they put out way to many colors to compete and they dont have to I have 3 case bose and i rate my gec up there with them. Why pay 300 dollers for a knife that will have a good snap.I havnt bought a gec that doesnt have a great snap to it

I'm a big fan of GEC knives now. Close to my favorite. Amazing F&F. More folks need to get them in hand.
