Hey there everybody! I've been making these tributes of the iconic Western 49 Bowie for a while now.

These are significantly smaller and handier IMO than the original Bohemeth. Hope you like it! They have significant modifications, especially the extra long and extra bent brass guard, I dialed that back a lot. The handle contours on these are very different than the sharp angles on the original too, much more rounded and of course it's a hidden tang.

Steel is 1/8” x 1 1/2”in 52100with heat treat for60/61. Hand sanded to 600grit for a fine satin finish. The edge was about .010” before sharpening. Balance is at the plunge.

Dimensions: 11 1/2”OAL, tip to guard is 6 5/8”

The Brass guard is finished to 1200 grit. The handle is Osage and Granadillo with red and black spacers, finished to 1200 grit, then oiled and waxed. The handle feels great in my average sized hand with room to spare.

Back Story: In the early 80's or so my brother and I each got originals and used them for years. Fast forward to the early 2000's and I'm teaching camping to 2 nephews and dabbling in knifemaking so when they were 10 or 12 years old I offered them each one of my knives. Well, one chose a decent knife I made and one chose the beat up old W49! He eventually got one of mine too but jeez!

Hi luethge luethge yeah they're both very good outdoorsmen today and my wife and I played a big part of that starting when they were about 8. Neither of their parents were campers so we decided it would be on us to get'em out there. One's an avid hunter now and got his first elk a couple of years ago. He didn't get that from me tho. Other friends of his got him going there. I fly fish and taught both of them. I'll be backpacking into Sky Lakes Wilderness in southern Oregon with a childhood friend in 3 weeks. I can't hardly wait for that, I haven't been there since I was a teenager.
