Case Workman Sodbuster got here today

I have been surprised as well that Case does not offer the large Sodbuster in CV...it used to be a stalwart in the Case line. When one considers the zillions of variations of patterns, blade etches, and handle material that Case offers every year (and changes their whole lineup so frequently) ...you would think that offering the simple Sodbuster pattern in CV steel would not be such a big deal. And it's an inexpensive knife, just right for these tough economic times.

Yes. A perfect metaphor for these times, I'd think.

It does strike me as odd. Other makers, too, seem to heavily favor the smaller soddie pattern. There's nothing wrong in that, I have one of those too, and I like it. But, I've also been hoping Queen would produce their 'Country Cousin' soddie in a large version (& flat grind D2 to boot; that makes me drool), but there's no sign of that happening, either. I'll keep wishin' & hopin' for that one, too.

I'll take my northern hillbilly WV a** and call them also for you Don. :) I don't like large soddies but I would like to see them offer them. Heck I might just need one for my collection. :D

Wow.

I wonder how many Case knives have been sold over the decades in Texas and Oklahoma. Times must be pretty darn good at Case these days, if they really believe they don't need that extra business. That sort of apathy towards customer feedback doesn't bode well for a company trying to survive in this economy. I really hope it was only ONE individual, having a bad day, who was answering the phones when he called.

This was kinda my thinking as well.Texas,Oklahoma, and if you threw in Tenessee just for grins,i imagine that's about half (more?)of the Case xx knife business.

I have a dream that one day Case will offer every pattern and handle material in CV steel. Not that tru-sharp is bad but I like the choice. I'm actually growing quite fond of my ebony backpocket in tru-sharp because I never worry about corrosion and while it doesn't hold an edge real long, I can easily get it scary sharp.
Enjoy your large sodbuster, I'm sure it's a workhorse.

I wish all their models came with a CV blade steel option,I much favor it over their stainless.-Jim
