From Gary:
The steel is comprised of 1084 and 15n20, around 800 layers as i recall. The pattern is a laddered w's. After the billet was made the blade was forged to shape. I do all my heat treating of forged blades in my shop with the use of a hightemp salt pot quenching into a very fast oil "Parks #50". The fossilized walrus was obtained by a knifemaker buddy"Neil Mckee" on a trip to Fairbanks ,Alaska. I still have in my possesion some of that tusk. The sheath, as always is made by a leathersmith friend "Gordon Kenley"
