Has anyone tried one with the digital compass? I am a sucker for gagets.

I just got one in November,I love it. The compass seems accurate and all the other goodies are great. I love watching the barometer. The fact that I will probably never have to set the time again is great. The only drawback is the 150 page manual

if you like built in compasses in watches get a tissot t-touch.

when you activate the compass mode the hand dials spin around and from a compass with the hour hand pointing south and minute hand pointing north.

the casio pathfinder is also very nice and the compass was pretty much dead on as long as its held parallel to the ground.

cheers

I've got the Pathfinder with the compass that I wear every day. While I've never used the compass for more than a toy, it's nice to have and works pretty well.

Good watch. I like the pathfinder.

I like the Suunto Xlander as well.

But....My favorite has to be the Maratac AQC from countycomm. They are really cool.

This thing is right on with my cammenga, and is a very nicely built watch. Love the Zulu band, and the price is right on!!

Watch the video in the link.

I've got two of them. The Pathfinder and the Sea Pathfinder. I love them. I've been wearing one of them every day for the past 3 or 4 years with no problems.

I had a Casio but ending up selling it because of the size and weight. The looks also did not appeal to me all that much. I ended up going with a Suunto Observer LTt, which is much smaller than the Casios and most other Suuntos, looks very nice, has a titanium case, and has a really comfy and durable leather bad. The instruments (compass, barometer, thermometer) have been accurate in my testing. The only caveat is with the thermometer, which you have to have off your wrist for 15 MINUTES before it is accurate, but that's the same for any thermometer in a watch that I have seen.

I do like the look of that Maratac though, so I might have to give it a try. The Tissot Touch series also greatly intrigues me, but they are a little pricey.

I have one and use it when on hunting trips. I like it alot except the light button is hard to find by touch. The barometer and solar/atomic is my favorite feature. The Suunto's crystals scratch too easily.

I have an older pathfinder (QW-1470); I like it a lot. The compass does work fairly well. The problem is that you have to really make sure its level. Tilting it can really affect the reading a lot. Not as big of a problem with regular compasses since the needle will usually stick if the compass isn't level. Maybe the newer pathfinders don't have as big of a problem with that though.

This is my only complaint about this watch. Luckily I do not find myself using the light all that much.

That being said the watch does have an auto-on feature for the light. You can set it up to turn on if you raise your wrist and tilt towards your line of site.
