Categorizing Your Knife Collection

a framework to help categorize the types I have for my engineering brain to make sense of things. Here's what I come up with.
My collection is :
A hodge podge of funny looking things with grind marks . . . some with dark stains on the metal parts. Mostly black other parts. Far too many black ones. Far, FAR too many with round holes all over the place . . .

You thought I meant Spyderco round holes . . . yah . . . LOTS of those as well.

Hahahaha it has practically been my number one knife collecting challenge to buy something that ISN’T black and

has NO round holes.

This may be, in part, why I may have over reacted and bought this, my last purchase, . . . the WHITE Case Trapper.

The only other main characteristic of my “collection” is a startling absence of any theme or organizing pattern.

My collection/accumulation/hoard is split 2 primary categories, with sub-categories

Primary Categories are - folder and non-folder.

The each Primary Category has 2 sub-categories - users and non-users.

The folder users are literally my EDC users, primarily Buck (110, 510, 482/484/486) and Kabar (1189, rigger's knives), with a couple of old Camillus thrown in ("demo" knife, TL-29). Each has at least 2 back-ups in reserve.

The non-user folders are either
-- Boy Scout or Girl Scout knives
-- older, military issue knives - demo, TL-29s, pilot's knives, folding machetes, etc.

The non-folder category initially has the same sub-categories, user and non-user, but each of these have multiple sub-sub-categories as I probably have 200 fixed blades for every folder I have.

Under user fixed blades, the 2 categories are "legal" and "illegal", either a knife is legal for me to carry in public off my property or it is not. Come September 01, 2017, when the "illegal knife" becomes no more in the Texas Penal Code, there will only be "users".

Under non-user fixed blades, well, I have --
- swords
- short swords
- sword bayonets
- bayonets
- military issue knives
- non-military issue by brand or type
----- dive knives (any brand)
----- Western
----- Kabar
----- Muela
----- Commemorative Bowies
----- Other Bowies
----- the "I got these because I like them" category. :D
----- the "OMG, WTH was I thinking when I got this" category.:rolleyes::confused::confused::D:poop:
