CATRA Edge Testing Results

Great thread, guys from Buck.

As an engineer, I appreciate the objectivity rendered by the Catra and appreciate that you shared your work/results freely here and on your web page.

And I learned something for sure... there is more to edge angle for abrasive/slice cutting tests than I suspected. Very interesting.

More to the point, I figured a 30 degree edge angle would start out sharper for sure, but that the 30 degree would be more delicate and would not retain sharpness longer than a 40 degree angle. Your Catra results says that is not the case for abrasive/slicing tests.

It's here! It's here! Man, this one is almost too beautiful to use, too. (Almost).

Well. I posted pictures of THAT one back in mid May, in the Pete's Pics thread, look for the green camo. Just yesterday received Oak, Damascus, NS, after an excruciating 7 week wait, to the day. A picture of that one in the thread, also. Gotta update the family portrait!

Thanks Al. I'm a little behind on my reading on Bladeforums.

CJ and/or Pete,

This was a very informative thread, but the graphs are now gone and the link to the Buck web page doesn't work anymore.

Could one of you guys re-upload the graphs or provide a working link to the graphs on your (I think revamped) web site? Would be much appreciated.... thanks.

Bring this one back up, any new graphs? Or can you find the old one?
