Hi,
I have a 225Q which I bought in 2013 when I didn't know what a 225Q tang looked like. The tang has been replaced. It is welded to the blade. I was wondering if the knife is safe and strong enough for normal use (as a camp knife or butcher knife). Your opinion will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I'd feel safe using it for normal knife stuff. While welded/brazed tangs can be dodgy, there have been a number of good ones too, and the connection on this one looks good.

Depends on what you plan to do with it. Batoning or chopping I wouldn't attempt. Normal knife cutting tasks should be fine.

My .02........That looks like a "theater" knife. WW2 GI rebuild. I'd leave it alone, and if it is a real theater knife just clean it up, put it back together, and admire it.

Thank you tltt for replying to my post and for your opinion and advice. Much appreciated! Thanks to craytab and scottyj too! A couple of days ago I received another 225Q from a gentleman in USA and this knife is in excellent condition. So I thought that I'll keep the new one as a collector's item and start using the older one. But now I agree with scottyj that it looks like a theatre made knife and has history and it still looks nice (to me). So I will keep both as collector-items and admire them both from time to time. So thank you all! ~og
