I met up with with ManixJ yesterday for some Trout fishing in Central Mass. We were going to hit a few local spots but ended up staying at the first spot after all the fish we got into.
We caught 6 Pickeral, 1 Largemouth Bass and landed 16 Rainbow trout. We both lost about 5 trout each.
ManixJ caught a nice 19 " Pickeral, the Bass and a trough load of Trout. About 1 hour into fishing I had a huge hit that almost ripped the rod out of the rod holder, once I set the hook I knew that this was a big un'.
After a decent fight I landed it, it was a 4 1/2 lb Rainbow trout. I did not measure it but it appeared to be around 22 or 23", the girth was truly hog like. The pics dont do the fish justice.
It was release for another angler to catch.
I used my meaner to make some rod holders, worked like a charm. We saw a few watersnakes too.
Overall a great day.
*The Whitetail deer pics were from Quabbin Reservoir Reservation on Saturday afternoon.
This Doe was walking down the road like a dog

Looks like you had an awesome time guys!!!!
'Grats on the nice catches!!!

MAX, you let that one go?! That should be up on your wall brother! Great pictures and good on ya for letting her go. Did the Pickerel fight very hard? Always wanted to catch one of those...

Yeah I know it would have made a nice mount for sure. I have been spoiled over the years by fishing in upstate NY at the Salmon runs and some of the backwoods steelhead runs, landing and losing some monster trout and salmon.
I am not bragging by any means but having already caught trout this big and I would rather see someone just starting out or a kid hook into this trout and have the thrill of a lifetime with it.
This Rainbow trout did make my day for sure.
The Pickeral fight real hard both small and large ones. They are famous for hitting your lure right at the shoreline or next to the boat making you say "Whoa" real loud.....lol

Should have tried to catch the snake ;)

Just don't eat it Bear Grylls style  ;)

So cool. I finally got my fishing license and bought some cheep poles for the wife and kids. My (5 year old) have gone out three times fopr quick sessions. He caught his first fish, a small mouth bass......man was he excited!

That kinda looks like a Muskie to me?

pickerel, muskies and northern pike are all in the same family so they look similar, this was def a chain pickerel, notice the scale colors a chain like pattern. We are lucky to have all three around here in new england if your are lucky enough to land the muskies or pikes. the pickerels are VERY common around here.

Great day fishing with Max, he is a great guy and the second best fisherman I know ;)

I was lucky enough to have a deep sea fishing day right after this great day of fresh water fishing with max.

Sorry no pics, the ocean was as rough as I ever seen it on a small fishing boat, we were 6 old salts that never get sea sick in the past but is was so bad 2 of our group turned green and barely fished at all. the remaining four of us fished hard to try to get fish for the whole group and we did pretty good. alot of cod some haddock and some pollack came up. Mostly short cods they were under the legal limit and were thrown back but we still had about 5 pounds a filets a person in the end of the day.

some pics from last year around the same time with the same group. :D:thumbup: This fishing trip was once in a lifetime!! beleive it or not these cod were not the biggest caught that day there were a couple a little larger

I have not caught cod like that for a few years now. I grew up in Nova Scotia, so we used to go out cod jigging quite often as kids.

But, I did get out striper fishing yesterday, and we had a great day.

9 stripers into the boat (and a couple that spit the hook after a good fight)
4 of the 9 over 40lbs
1 over 50lbs

The only better day I had was 2 Decembers ago when I caught 19 stripers (but none close to the size that we got yesterday) and 60+ blues in one day. And the other 2 guys that were with me that day caught 8-10 stripers and 40-50 blues each as well.

Looks like a great day:thumbup:

We could all use more of em...thanks for sharing:):)
