I have not caught cod like that for a few years now. I grew up in Nova Scotia, so we used to go out cod jigging quite often as kids.

But, I did get out striper fishing yesterday, and we had a great day.

9 stripers into the boat (and a couple that spit the hook after a good fight)
4 of the 9 over 40lbs
1 over 50lbs

The only better day I had was 2 Decembers ago when I caught 19 stripers (but none close to the size that we got yesterday) and 60+ blues in one day. And the other 2 guys that were with me that day caught 8-10 stripers and 40-50 blues each as well.

I hope to do a little striper fishing from the beach this weekend down to cape cod. It will be from the beach so I'm guessing no whoppers like yours! but any striper is a good fight even the smaller schoolies.
