Off Topic Caught Out Naked in Public With No Knife Nightmare !

The last (and I think only) time I voluntarily chose to go knifeless when I didn't have to was back in 1997. At the time, my EDC was a Vic Spartan. Going to see a movie, for some bizarre reason, I decided I didn't want to bother putting my knife in my pocket along with my other stuff. Coincidentally, there was a SAK in the movie. I sat there kicking myself for voluntarily leaving my knife at home.

Nowadays, I EDC 3 knives: a Vic Executive, a Vic Pioneer (or Spartan), and a one-hand opener of some type (a Spyderco or a CRK). About a week ago, in a hurry to get to work, I realized I had forgotten my Pioneer. Even with my two other knives on me, I momentarily felt a bit 'off' without it. In a typical day, I have multiple uses for the Pioneer (or Spartan). Luckily, that day nothing in particular came up requiring that knife until I got back home.

Well Its only happened to me a few times and even then it didn't really happen.

Last week I was walking buttercup when I realized my case sodbuster Jr had again slipped out of my pocket when sitting on the couch ( the one knife that doesn't like my pockets, and only comes out on the couch )
I felt weird not having my knife in my pocket, but I knew my Vic classic was still in my pocket and my leatherman Fuse on my belt as always.

boy July 7th is going to suck.
I'm going to the Great America amusement park as I was given a pair of tickets , it will be as fun as an amusement park can really be butthey allow no knives.
I just know there will be some kind of snack package that's hard to open so like an animal I'll have to use my teeth.
Sure they don't actually check what's on your keys ,there's no legal issues as it's just a policy thing , and I'd just be risking a 10 min walk to take something off and put it in the truck if they did catch it, but as much as I don't like it I'll just have to deal with it.

The Sinclair card sharp that was in my wallet got accidentally snuck in everywhere. I didn’t mean to just totally forgot it was there.

That was until my friend broke it.

For me, this would be no big deal.

(I hope I don't have to resign my BF membership because of it) :(

If expulsion is pending, I will say that if I am out hunting, I would immediately stop and go back for my knife. :)

If I'm driving, I will have a knife. SAK Midnite Minichamp on my keyring, and a Kershaw in the glove compartment of both mine & my wife's cars.

As an aside.
If the only store near home that I can regularly shop at is a Wal-Mart.... I'm moving.

I know multiple people who have forgotten Vic classics on their keys that went unnoticed, and in fact I've got a red Vic classic I found on the ground at this very amusement park when I was 3 years old.
I don't carry a Vic Classic on my keys, but maybe it's time to start ;)
And I know just The one :D

Btw years ago I but a handful of those $1.50 key shaped keychain knives from Harbor Freight to give to non knife people in my family so they could always have some sort of cutting tool.
I gave one to my dad as well ( he does carry a Vic tinker most times though ) and his has accidentally made it into countless places including a couple court houses.

Always two a slip joint and a modern of some sort, so forgetting hasn't happened very often. There's a Gerber EAB and a leatherman in the truck so I'm covered.

Do you know how some Catholics do the Stations of the Cross blessing? They touch their forehead, stomach & each side as a prayer-The Father Son & Holy Ghost. I see a lot of Hispanic jockeys do it after winning races. Anyway when I was thirteen years old I developed a similar thing every time I left the house. It was comb, knife, money, handkerchief, cigarettes & keys. Even though I no longer smoke & have a CCW, I still go through the same kind of check list upon leaving the house. I highly recommend it as I never find myself in the situation as the OP.

My father-in-law always does a version of that before leaving...he says "spectacles, testicles, wallet, and watch.

I always have two knives on me. SAK Farmer in a thin leather sheath in my back pocket and my main clipped folder in my right front pocket. Today in my pocket...

I do feel a bit naked when I forget my knife. I would only buy a knife at Walmart if I was planning on being away for a few days. Nothing against Walmart; they just don’t have much that appeals to me in the knife section (though it’s nice to see some budget Spyderco’s there).

The other day I handed my knife over to a guy on my mail route. He liked it so much he bought it on the spot. I rushed back to my mail truck - hoping I had something in my lunchbox. Whew! My multi tool was there. My only alternative was to go over to Lowe’s and buy a knife. You think WalMart is bad....Lowe’s is worse!

Today I had to break a few boxes down. I reached for my knife and realized I slept walked out the door this morning without it. No big deal, there is a Buck in my truck. Or so I thought. My next option was asking this girl there if she had a knife. I fully expected her to laugh at me. Or at least hand me some $3 knife from the gas station on the corner. Instead she handed me a Kershaw. And it was even pretty sharp. So yeah, she sort of saved the day.

Technically I can’t take a knife to work, so I don’t push the rules since they pay me, but I feel weird without a knife. What I have done instead is carry a Maxmadco pen. It’s like the e-cig for the knife addict.

I keep an A.G.Russell 2 1/2" Ti lockback in a little pocket of my wallet. It's always there if I forget to carry a primary; but that almost never happens. I do understand the uncomfortable feeling of not having a knife on me even though I realize it's kind of irrational.

So you're the other one that has one?

Seriously these aren't easy to find. I've found one off eBay, with only a couple in a year or so since, both in less than stellar shape. Great little knife. They don't get much smaller, thinner, or lighter, and not with a lock too.

On the off chance that I forget my clipped knife, I'll probably still have a traditional and/or a G. Sakai Preppy (essentially identical to the AGR 3.0), Victorninox Cybertool 29, AND the Opinel no6, I've still got my Leatherman Squirt S4 and Spyderco Grasshopper on my keychain.

To be honest, I'm surprised when I don't see someone here with a Vic Classic, Leatherman Micra/Squirt, and/or a small knife like a Ladybug on someone's keychain.
