Am new to the forum and to knife making as well. Always had a love for knives, and now looking at attempting to do my very first knife, a EDC. Any recommendations as to were to source steel would be greatly appreciated, Canadian suppliers preferred! Any tips/suggestions appreciated!

What is your price range? I could easily tell you some awesome knives but I don't want to suggest a $200+ knife when your price rang is below $50.

Oops, I misread your post! I don't know any steel retailers in Canada, but I hope you find one! A steel I suggest is 1095. But the main thing is to get it heat treated by a professional!!

Well, we've all taken the ride, buying and selling ever more expensive knives in an endless quest to find a knife that satisfies us for longer than, well, until we find the next one we want.

It's an interesting trip, but it's an expensive one!

I think you should find a Canadian knifemaker who can build exactly what you think will satisfy you.

Then, when you find that you're not satisfied with that one knife, you can go back to the same maker, and get another.

And another.

And... well, you get the idea.
