Came to this site thinking that the S&W knives were the best....

Slowly came to find that Kershaw, Benchmade and Spyderco were pretty decent...purchased about 4 of each...from Oso Sweet...Zt0350...Griptil...Sequel...Tenacious...Native CF....

Finally found out about the Sebenza...fell in love with the Titanium/Framelock look....simple yet refined....

Had to have one!

Sold off 4 knives and a set of 10.8v Makita drills...

Purchased Small Sebenza 21....couldn't sleep for 2 nights...finally came!

Wow....

Now I know what all the buzz was about.

So smooth....so sleek....so perfect.

So Sharp right out of the box....

Really looking forward to using this one...

Now I'm going to have to puchase a wood inlay one for dress....and a micarta inlay for work use....

Maybe even an umnumzaan....i need to find more things to sell...

Pictures!

Took it apart and cleaned it and lubed it 3 times tonight....can't get over how simple this thing is, yet how tight and perfect everything fits...

Flicks open very smooth with ultra gun lube....smoother than the CRK greese...

My only concern it if I"m going to be able to keep it as sharp as from the factory....it's razor razor sharp!

Congrats, they really are functional art, amazing in every respect and they ooze quality. The only bad thing about them is that one is never enough. if you find a perfered method for sharpening please post it, i recently discovered the virtue of the spyderco sharpmaker but i still cant quite maintain that kind of an edge.

Congratulations. I'm on the list for the BFC passaround Sebenza; should have it in my hands in a month or two. I'll withhold judgment until then.

Congrats on the new knife!

I'm not too knowledgeable about Sebenzas, but does the lock bar usually come that engaged when new?

Oh, God, that is beautiful! *must... resisit... urge... to... buy Sebenza... Have not... enough... money*

Sebenza is simplistic beauty, enjoy using it!

:thumbup:Congrats on a great knife! It won't be your last CRK,but of course, you already knew that.;)

Is it just me or does that lock bar look a little too far over for a brand new Seb?

I thought the same thing. I can tell by looking at it that the cutout to access the lock bar would drive me crazy holding it. I also just can not warm up to frame locks. They can wear out. Just about every thread has a post talking about % of lock up. I just don't want to have to worry about a lock wearing out. Yeah it might not or it might take years. But it still can happen and that bugs me. Give me an AXIS or ball bearing lock or even a lock back. Never had a problem with those but have had multiple problems with frame and liner locks. But they are very popular so they must work for a lot of people, I'm just not one of them.

Well now you have me worried....most other pics that i've looked up now show that it's just over half...while mines @ 75% or so....

I hope someone can chime in! I'll post up on the CRK forum...

It has been stated that no matter how far it goes across if there is no blade play do not worry about it. You can send it in and I believe for a fee they will redo the lock. The RIL takes a long time to wear out. Mine has been at the same engagement of the blade since I got it. Congrats on a fine knife! (ps. rather then posting a new thread use the search option of google you can find it in service and support sub-forum in the sticky last post. Lockup percentage has come up time and time again)

The following isn't directed to anyone here, but I see lots of posts where people want a framelock to have a 10% engagement and want it to behave like a fixed blade when they stab fridges. All folders are compromises and the framelock design has its share of them. To the OP, unlike many framelock makers, CRK hardens the face of the lockbar and stands behind their knives for good. I wouldn't worry at all about the lockup.

Lockup is VERY solid! Almost as if it were a fixed blade. Probably nothing to worry about!

Thanks for the replies and comments!

Hi swmp4L -

Excellent knife!

As far as the lockup, I do not have one of these, but it seems clear from your pictures that the locking side of the handle is thick enough that even if it went all the way to the other side and touched the other handle, it would still be firmly locked.

I just don't see all the concern over how far the lock engages the blade on these particular knives - I don't see how the lock bar could ever get far enough across the blade tang to fail.

Enjoy a great new purchase!

best regards -

Congrats on your seb. Lockup is just fine...I have an umnunzaan with

and another and......

I have 4 CRKs and dont use my other knives much at all anymore...

the quality and everything else about a CRK will grow on you.
