Caution to Bladeforum newbs…

I would say this, of my Hobby (addictions) folks around me have suffered with over the years, I say this because I have quite enjoyed the interests BUT those who do not share the enthusiasm often choose to make your joy their pain - Knives have been one of the lesser evils.
I would just offer this, NEVER put yours or anyone who you are responsible for well being at risk and you have nothing to worry about. Moderation and safety are the guiding principles.
Stow your gear safely and only spend what you have to lose and all will be fine.

Me too! Knives are far cooler than coffee beans! :D

That made me crack up laughing...lol

And here I thought eye rolling at knives was just my wife. The eye roll I got last night when I was cleaning my RTAK II was priceless.

I joined about a week ago, and I've already purchased a knife (Spyderco Lum) off of another user on this website!!! This forum is fantastic.

Started collecting knives in.... 1969. I had already collected 5 vintage Camoros before I ever frequented a forum. Had owned 11 Jeeps before the Jeep forum. Five Toyota Landcruisers before that forum. Three Porsches before that forum.
"Newb" is a very very relative term. Usually really inaccurate.

Very true! In this case I was using the term to poke fun at myself as I truly was a newb with knives when I first stumbled onto bladeforums (and still have so much to learn!). As a side note, recently learned that a "newb" is a term for someone inexperienced but who wants to learn whereas a "noob" has more negative/annoying implications.

Oh what needless pain we shoulder! Spending hundreds of hours here is a most disastrous vogue amongst us so called 'addicts'. Run for the hills, guard your wallet or just read my posts on addictions. You have been warned.

I just registered on this site a couple of days ago to research my next purchase... can someone please let me know how to de-register?

But seriously, great site, loads of good information and not too many wankers by the look of it.

Why do you want to "de-register" from BF? Just curious

Same here I've been collecting all my life, knives, guns, tools, etc. the forums just make it more interesting, most of the time.

As far as the wife is concerned I've found its easiest when she walks in just to turn and adress whatever is needed, even if its nothing more than, how was your day today. Besides, I'm past the denial stage.;)

Yep, it continues. Just purchased and waiting for a SFNO and a NMSFNO. I think i read a post recently talking about how good noodles taste :-)

To all the wives rolling their eyes...i'd prefer my other half on bladeforums rather than usasexguide! There are much worse places to be surfing! Not to mention, while your "cruising" bladeforums you may see "His and Hers" premium knives which I would never complain about ;)

On a serious note, my boyfriend has been a member for a long time and now I'm addicted, so it's all thanks to him! I can see this getting real expensive, real fast.

C6C, that's cool. But I imagine its more time consumption rather than where.
