I ordered some black 1/8" G-10 and what came in the mail was Tiger 1/8" G-10. I should have sent it back, but thought maybe I'll try it maybe it will be OK......

I guess it's just in time for Halloween:)

Bruce if that was our goof, just send back the rest of the sheet and we'll replace it with black and credit you for the return ship.

Rob!

I like the tiger everyone does black , the blade needs more sanding looks good overall

Bruce :D LOL You're being way to hard on yourself ...........

She doesn't look bad at all, however, it could & would look better if you take shunsui's advice and maybe put just a little more work into her.

Do you have a knife vise that will position the knife on its side ?
If so, clamp her up and get some 50 grit paper, preferably with the cloth backing. Rip some strips and do the shoeshine, equally on both sides, until you get rid of the corners on the handle. Take her down to a complete radius on each side. Move up through the grits until she's at ~ 600. I'll bet the "tiger" will look pretty darn good then ................

Spend a little more time on the blade (although it will be a pita to sand with the handle on) and I'll bet she looks like a million bucks  ;)

I kind of like it. It would look good with some bell bottom pants. Hehehe..... It looks like a good little cutter. My bid is $10 dollars!

That's not a bad knife at all. As stated, you may have quit working on it before it was finished is all. I really like the profile.

Bruce
I have to agree with you. I think the knife is ugly. No I'm not kidding and yes I feel better for having said the truth.:D Looks to be well made though! Nice crisp straight grind lines. Certainly very functional! Maybe take David's advice and give her a little love?
Could be a swan hidin under that ugly duckling!:D

Hello all! I don't usually look around this sub-forum, but I'm leaning more and more toward making my own blades.

Bruce, that knife looks great! It's a good edc size and I like the shape. Personally, I like the tiger stripe G10. Black is just kinda, well, black. Try giving it some contours to bring out the contrasting layers and I think it'll look even better than it already does.

Here is a pic of a Ranger knife that I contoured the handles on, and Spyderco Mule that I made the handles for. Hopefully this helps with your tiger stripe!

Well thanks guys. Yes the blade finish isn't (wasn't very good). I was playing around trying a few things to get a machine satin finish. It looks better now - last night I finished it with a 400 grit cork belt. I might try the dremel tool on the handle to see how that goes.

Rob, the G-10 did come from your store....I wasn't at all trying to call you out on this in public. It was a simple mistake and I could have picked up the phone and mailed it back. Thanks for the return offer! But I take responsibilty and I'm not going to saddle this cost onto you. Rob and Maryln offer great service and competitive prices, I'm a satisfied cutomer and would recommend them to any other knife makers. It's great to have a Canadian supplier up here!
