CBSA has banned Flippers

There are a lot of moronic decisions made by customs officials. You can have items shipped to a US destination just across the border, go down when the *&&^%%$ borders are open again.

Y tho?

I can get a CKRT Provoke from Blade HQ for $199 US for the knife and economy shipping for $16 US so $215 with about 3 weeks travel time. Or I can get it from the Canadian spot for $210 US and $6 US shipping so $216 and have it in about five days at worst.

Someone here in Canada can jump in and order the BHQ one and I"ll order the Canada one. Whoever gets it first can post a picture.

Same math is going to kick in more most of the other knives on there. I do get the exclusives from US stores like Blade HQ and DLT and they cross the border fine so this whole thread is really inspired by chicken little.

ZT doesn't ship their exclusives to Canadian Retailers (models like the ZT 0562TS, ZT 0562BLk etc.) you'd had to ship the knife across the border. Or, me who started this thread I ordered a Mass Drop exclusive, once again has to come from the U.S. One of the knives I've wanted to buy is a Gen 6 Hinderer XM-18 slicer m390 DLT exclusive. I've also had an interest in some of the new SOG's, but SOG isn't shipping their knives to Canadian retailers. All of the knives I've wanted to buy, aren't available at Canadian retailers. Not to mention if you ever need to get a warranty on a knife with a flipper is a problem - even if bought from Canadian retailers. Please remember, this thread is about knives with flippers.

That Massdrop knife was a bad call. It's normally a swichblade that MD left the spring out of. That wasn't a good choice to make.

I see lots of the ZTs at stores in Canada still. I see the CF version of the 562 in stock. But no tiger stripes on it, I guess that could be a deal breaker.

You're incorrect, on saying "it's normally a switchblade" that MD left the spring out of. The original Mordax was a framelock flipper, the Massdrop Mordax (that was a ferrum forge & protech produced) is a button lock flipper, they're no variants that are automatic knives. So your statement is completely false. Also, the ZT 0562CF is a production model, not an exclusive or limited edition run like the knives I mentioned, huge difference.

I got few knives seized in the past(got them all back after shipping them back to sellers and then back to me again) but now get knives shipped with blade removed from scales and have zero issues.

Hey, mind sharing how you get them sent with the blade remove? Is it by special request to company or authorized dealers like blade hq? I would really appreciate a reply as im really interested in trying this.

I've never done that and places like BladeHQ I highly doubt would do that.

Dont want to jinx myself but i think, it depends on which customs the flippers passed through. I had the Mordax, a FFKW Buc and another Massdrop Dew Hara Kabuto sent by accident by Drop, which is almost a gravity knife, that went through Quebec/MTL customs without issues. But those are my only flippers coming straight from the US though. Fingers crossed that i haven’t ran out of luck.

I know people who have had knives seized from the Quebec/MTL customs. It really just comes down to luck and the individual CBSA agent.

Well check out the big brain on this guy! I can't understand now knowing what you know why they didn't let it across.

I have to confess I did order that Provoke at 12:49 PST and got a shipment confirmation from Canada Post at 14:48 PST . When I actually receive it I'll do a GBU thread on the store.

Since I"m on Drop also I'll have to look up that other knife later and see what I can discern. I do recall when It came up and I was immediately Nope, Nope, NOPE. But that's just me.
