CCW Opinion

Not going to matter what we shoot as the last Lead Plant has closed its doors for good and we will be getting our Ammo from China from now on.!* Gives us something to think about as we go to the Range and crack off 50 Rds and when we get our last 50 left we want to save them ~~ just because.!! We can thank the "man" for this as he is doing his part by coming in the back-door where we would not know what he was doing and give us a surprise.! Good luck.
I carry a Glock23 with the Bar-Sto 357 Sig Barrel and so far no problems and have had it for over 10 years plus I have a stash of 357 Sig ammo ! Same with my Kimbers as most are 45 Cal. and about 4 years ago I bought a surplus of 45 ammo.!
You have to think ahead or we will be taking a Knife to a Gun fight and we all know who is going to win that one.!! LOL

Thanks guys, I hear what you're saying about the chambered round. I replace the stock plastic sights with metal Trijicon night sights and incorporate weapon-hand racking with the rear sight on my belt, shoe bottom, table edges, you name it.

Yeah, the training courses frown on non-chambered carry. However, at this point in my life and primary environments, it's the only way I feel comfortable with a pistol on me at all times. It's funny, I had this debate with a friend who has his CCW recently when out trout fishing -- he was knocking the Clip-Draw and the non-chambered carry. Then I asked if he had his pistol on him and he said no... I won't say what I told him next. :)

There's no way anyone can tell me that carrying non-chambered is not better than not carrying at all. That I wouldn't believe. I believe you've got to train diligently with whatever you choose to employ as your method, and most important to me, if you're going to carry, carry!

You mean the last PRIMARY smelting plant in the USA (the Doe Run Company’s primary lead smelting facility in Herculaneum, Mo) closed. Apparently Doe Run planned on closing that primary smelter in 2016 anyway but accelerated that rather than upgrade the facilities. Secondary smelters are still operating. Please note even the Doe Run Company's secondary smelter in Mo is still operating. Just so happens, per the NRA anyway, that lead sources for ammunition in the USA are from secondary smelters. Also note that some USA bullet manufacturers have NEVER used primary lead in their products.

By "the man", I suppose you mean G.W. Bush and the EPA under him, as the EPA reduced the ambient air quality standard for lead from 1.5 micrograms of lead per cubic meter of air to 0.15 in October 2008 (under G.W. Bush's administration). It was against those regulations, Doe Run elected not to upgrade its primary smelter.

Let's at least try to be accurate and not pass along every sensational rumor we find on the net just because they jive with our biases.

All of this.
I hate the halfrican as much as anyone but it wasn't his doing.
That plant was, for all intents and purposes, shut down already
