Alright, the Team Geminis just sold out, the Combat Ash has come and gone and the Ash-2 is looming on the horizon. If you missed the Gemini variants, you are broken hearted; if you don't have an Ash-1, you want one. Sound off for the victor here. Both are large midsize knives. Both are jacks of all trades, but master of none. Both are loved and have large followings, but if you could have only one...
Variants count here.

OK. The CG ASH1. Prefer that wider blade that just seems more rugged. And I do have both...;-)

Haven't held either, but from what I've read and seen here, ASH1. Also, I like it more on a strictly visual level. It's next on my list, after my custom (in the works), and if I can find one.

Ash-1, LE if we are really being picky. If not the BIG finish .22 sabre ground would work.

Compliments of the Busse Combat website...

And my choice

But in all honesty, I've never held a TGLB... :o

.

Between the two, my preference is the TGLB... That being said, my Hell Razor uber alles...

Tough call man. TGLB is a better chopper but the ASH is more iconic and I prefer the ASH handle. They are just very different blades but if I had to have only one of the two it would be an Ash. I own both and that would suck to make that decision.

Just got the ASH today and waiting on my TGLB to arrive so the verdict is out.... But I really love this ASH!

I drooled over the TGLB for a long time. What prevented me from buying one was the fact that the ASH design seems so great to me. I wanted to save my $ for its revival. So, I'm waiting for that email from the shop:)

I have no experience with either of those models.

The winner is the one you want most/first of the two or the one you are willing two sell least of the two once you have both. That said, I guess it is a tie if you get and keep both as in my case... :)

These are the keepers out of having owned multiple flavors of both models:

Skinny, competition finish with standard dark bruiser handles.

Got 'em both...stripped, reprofiled TGLB in black canvas mic & Skinny ASH-1 in black mic :D ...

Both are timeless...one in the tradition of great American Military Blades, the other as a stanchion of Busse Combat blades.

The ASH-1 carries better and is more ergonomic for medium hands, the rear pommel really gets you locked in...the Skinny version is an excellent slicer that bites deep and the aggressive drop point pokes with the best of them and yet is stout enough to hold up when called upon for digging in wood

The TGLB has never let me down, either. After minor thinning behind the edge it bites nearly as well as the ASH-1. The top guard is a love/hate structure for me. At times I love it -- at others, I hate it:thumbdn:.

It was useful playing around stabbing gypsum board and refrigerator box and made me feel locked in-- so I see the usefulness there if called upon seriously. And it provides some good feedback on the webbing between thumb & pointer when I "trigger grip" the lower guard in the choil with my index finger. But I have stung the same area near the webbing a couple times hacking off loblolly pine limbs on deadfall. And oftentimes I like to press down on top of the spine / handle area when cutting cordage, so it's a bit in the way at that time.

I will forever own both...but the Skinny ASH-1 gets the split decision.

I've owned both. I'd keep the TGLB. Lighter, slicier. Idunno what to say really other than that. Just felt better in my hand in most ways.

Oh my GOSH!!! That puppy is just adorable. Beautiful coloring!

I lusted after the TGLB for a long time and can say I do like it. I do have issues with it that Lexy did would be no problem to fix,but gas got cheap so I been working allot. I like the ASH, but have to say I like the TGLB more.

I don't have an ASH1 but I love my TGLB, just looking at the ash I can't imagine liking it better than the TGLB. The TGLB is a sleek and sure to be a sought after classic in the years to come, but a great user as well.

Have to agree. It has a reassuring feel in the hand. I ha e not been a leader to chop as good as you were there, but still like it allot.
