Cell phone only?

I've been cell-only for a couple of years now. My only regret is that I can no longer use my cool old Bakelite rotary phone as anything but a paperweight. :p

If a person wants to keep a landline for an emergency or some peace of mind, be sure to ask your phone company to give you the "tariff rate" (the lowest rate). They won't care to divulge it, but will only if you ask. It is a Federal mandate that they do so. Also, kill the long distance service and use a calling card or cell phone.
That's good to know. I would have never known that. Any idea how how much $$$ ?

Too many phone numbers here. We have three land lines, (home office, fax and the original house line), as well as three cell lines (Myself, wife and our teenage nephew). Two of the cell lines still have our old area code. My wife has a home and work email, and I use both a personal and gmail acoount as well.

How the hell did that happen?

fruitbat,

Each state is different, the tariff rates are the least expensive offered. The phone companies don't want the consumer to know how much they are. I took long distance off my line as I use a calling card or cell phone. The 911 situation has been rectified here, they can locate a cell by triangulation. I will eventually go wireless only, but realize that several methods of communication are needed for some of us. I also have a satellite phone.
