cell phone scrambler?

I don't really mind cellphones, unless it interferes with what I'm trying to do.

I work in a grocery store and some woman comes through my line talking on her phone. "Hi, how are you?" I say, she doesn't respond, because she's too busy on the phone to aknowledge me. I ring up her crap and tell her the price, she's still on the phone. She pays and leaves.

Some time later the manager comes out and said "Ben, what did you do?" I was confused. "Someone just called and complained that you tried to interrupt her phone conversation." Since then, I don't talk to people when they're on the phone. I think it's rude... here I am doing them a service and they can't take the two seconds off to aknowledge my existence.

My favorite is people coming into the store on their phones and slam into something with a shopping cart.

I don't use my phone in the car, no one should. Somethings are more important... like staying alive.

I think we're arguing apples and oranges here. I don't think anyone could be upset over emergency type calls or pagers. I really think most get pissed off about the "social" calls that disrupt. I used to carry my pager everywhere when I was a Captain in our local fire dept - it was volunteer and I was on call 24/7 - why would anyone object to that? Peace.

AT EASE FRANCIS ! ! !

No one is attacking you personally. If your an emergency responder we all appreciate it, and I'm sure you probably act in a considerate manner if you get paged in a public/quiet place. Asking if we would be interested in buying new pagers for you guys is silly. I'm sure your local taxpayers aren't aware that you guys were shafted like that, so ask them. I was in the Army for nine years. Six of those nine years I was in rapid deployment (Airborne, and light infantry) units, on two hour recall many times throughout the year,so we had to have pagers, and guess what ? We had to buy them ourselves. Clearly the majority of people posting in this specific thread do not like that there are people who do stupid things with cellphones, and pagers, also, as it was mentioned earlier, the devices to jam/scramble phones are illegal, good luck to those guys who want to try to obtain one, it aint gonna be easy. I personally wouldnt mind if local theaters had such devices. A doctor or paramedic, firefighter or, whatever in the theater isnt gonna be the only joe available in the event of an emergency. So keep on rolling, and thanks for your immense sacrifices, but don't be THAT guy.

About $25,000.00 ought to cover it. All our Motorola Minitor II SV pagers don't have the vibrate feature like the newer and more expensive models, so maybe you'd like to help us out...right? I mean then we wouldn't have to offend you while you enjoy your meal in one of our fine resturants...while we get our page to drop what we are doing to go help someone bleeding to death or something....OH that's right....I should just stay home..eat a sandwich..and watch my rented DVD....sacrifice my life further....I mean getting out of bed in the middle of the night...or leaving my Daughter's Birthday celebration while I go rescue someone in need...volunteering 300 hours a year isn't sacrifice enough for some people.
Know what my pet-peeve is....whining cry-babies..spoiled brat punks...and ignorant *******s, that want to find fault in everything, make **** up as the go to justify their ignorance....( like a cell phone user did this or did that) WAAAAA....WAAAAAA...snif...WAAAAA. Yet are quick to point out how perfect they are.
Damned if you do and Damned if you don't.
I said I'm NOT IMPRESSED by cell phone scramblers, nor people that wish to use them. Face it...deal with it....you'll always have people who behave poorly.

Whining newbie.
I'd rather die than get treated by a whining doctor/paramedic/whatever you are.

Don't be so lame. You're volunteering your services and complaining about how you're sacrificing everything for it. How sincere is that. If you think that it's too much then quit.

And stop showing off how you're saving people's lives and all that. People appreciate what you do but if you keep bragging about it, that's totally uncool.

From your post it just seems like you're bragging about what you do. Trying to tell the whole forum eh?

In the cinema you just don't switch on the pager or cellphone. If it can't vibrate then too bad. Go find something else to do with your family. Just because you're a volunteer doesn't mean you can spoil other people's movie-going experience.

Maybe you should keep your pager/cellphone on while you're on the plane as well. Who knows someone might just page you just before take off. Then maybe you could ask the pilot to stop the plane so you could save someone's life.

BTW i don't really give a damn about people using cellphones in a restaurant since there're already people talking there anyway.

Gentlemen,

Remember which forum you are in and conduct yourself accordingly.

There's been a survey released that shows that 14% of people would interrupt sex to answer their cell phone !! ....Of course this is not a new problem since ,over the years ,I've heard of a number of sad cases where a mother was bathing her infant, went to answer the phone, and the infant drowned.

Cell phone use doesn't bother me when the person is not operating a motor vehicle. I actually get a small laugh out of someone's misfortune when they forgot to set their phone to vibrate and it rings off at an inopportune moment and you see everybody else check THEIR phones.

Phone use while driving DOES bother me because it is dangerous and I am in favor of using jammers to create a zone of safety around one's car as long as it is of limited range and is in use only when the car is moving so it can't interfere with emergency calls.

I also don't like it when some clown gets all huffy and wants everyone else to shut up while he has a phone call in the middle of a crowd. Telling me "I'm trying to talk on the phone over here" is likely to get the response "I don't care what you are trying to do over there".

Now that it's getting close to summer it's hunting season again. When I'm driving and I see someone on their cell with the window open I lay on the horn as I pass them. It wakes the driver up and might make the other person on the line curtail the conversation. I'd rather have a low power jammer though.

I think the walkie talkie phones should be banned, nothing but drug users have them anyway, if the cops wanted they could arrest them easily since they shout into them.

Yo! <beep<beep>
Got the stuff? <beep<beep>
Got the scratch? <beep<beep>
Show up <beep<beep>
Yo! <beep<beep>

I'd also love to have one of those local itermediate frequency car stereo jammers, I'd out some lithoium batteries in it and tape it to the underside of the local ricer.

I've considered buying a jammer myself. I don't think they have a far enough range to be effective against yapping drivers, but it would be convenient for a restaraunt or theatre. You wouldn't need to have it on all the time either. Someone nearby starts yapping too loud about nothing, you give it a quick zap and their conversation is over.

Honest, I don't know what the hell is wrong with peoples' manners. Is it that difficult to walk outside to use the phone? Or say a quick, "I'm eating, I'll call you back later." How'd you like to be having dinner with someone who's giving all of their attention to a third person that's not even there?

Many of the jammers are made in California but primarily sold oversees. I've also seen electronic diagrams for home-made units.

Yes, interfering with cell phone communications is illegal in the US. No, not one single person has been prosecuted. Mostly because it'd be difficult to catch someone, and anyone who's phone is being jammed wouldn't know it, or know the source.

Theaters and clubs can easily be made cell-phone proof by choosing appropriate building materials.

In some areas, SanteFe, N.M. for instance, driving while yapping on a cell phone gets you a ticket. But I'm not sure the hands-free units are significantly safer - it's the mental distraction, not driving with one hand that causes the hazard.

Best Wishes,
Bob

The cell phone is #4 on the list of distractions causing auto collisions. Before we even think about banning it we should ban #1 passengers, #2 the radio, and #3 interesting things roadside.

yeah, like #3 hot chicks in short skirts!

If somebody wants to own a cell scrambler it's their right and nobody's business. Nobody tells you what you can and cannot own. And don't even get into discussions about legality and laws cause almost every person registered on these forums owns "something" that can be classified as illegal or is capable of killing people in greater numbers than an RF scrambler. RF scramblers have been around since the inception of 2-way radio. More people die each year from guns and knives than from RF scramblers. And more people die each year from automobiles than from guns and knives. If human life is so precious to us then why aren't we lobbying for an out-right ban on things that are responsible for the most human deaths each year?
