I was cleaning my Counterpoint XL today. The paper thin cellophane pivot washer was torn. Now I know I can't get a new one so I discarded it. Everything seems okay blade centering Etc. So what is the purpose of using a paper thin cellophane washer? Thank you in advance

They are teflon, and most likely a way to reduce friction to make the action smoother. Probably can't get replacements from CS, but there maybe other sources. There are also threads here where people have replaced the factory PB and teflon washer combo with a larger PB washer.

There still is a pb washer right? I’ve removed the teflon washers on most of my cold steel folders with no issues.

Oh yeah it's got the PB washers. Everything seems to be working good so. Them Teflon washers if that's what you want to call them are awful flimsy. Of course I would call Cold Steel for a new one but we know that would be futile.
