Celluliod

You may have hit the nail on the head with the obsessed part, Vince!! (I assume you know it means Special Factory Order though).

Yes,I know that, and also know the double, too,sf obsessed!.....

Man, it is incredible how beautiful those celluloid knives can be. Flylock and Waynorth's candys look just like hard candy you could pop off and eat. That XX especially looks like a fancy Jolly Rancher candy.

A nice collection of seriously good lookin knives in this thread. Looking at those faux tortoise <sp?> scales reminded me that when I was younger I used to see all kinds of grooming accessories made of that from combs and hairbrushes, to manicure sets. Not to mention eyeglass frames.

Amos,I called it turtle,cause of spelling,I think you got it right.So,where's your's?

I like the term fake turtle for just that reason, easier to jot down.

I don't have any real celluloids, just a Rough Rider barlow in fake, fake turtle and an RR muskrat and sodbuster in fake awbaloney. It would insult these fine looking celluloids to show them here.

After seeing all these and some past celluloid pics on here I/m afraid I may have to be open to the opportunity to snag one or two, or....

Figured I would keep this going. Here are a few of mine. The top is a Viking (by Ka-Bar), The toothpick is a utica, peanut is a camillus, shoe is by Saxonia cutworks (german), next one down is a Syracuse (Camillus), and the last is by Utica Knife & Razor. I will try to get a few picture handles ones up later.

Here is a pic of the back of my U.K.&R. knife. I find it interesting because it is one of the few of this type that was not by Remington. I am hoping to see more pics here, this thread isn't getting the response that the Barlow and congress ones are. Lets see some nice Celluloid ones guys!

Here is a close up of some Fight'n Rooster celluloid made in 1995. There is a little too much light in the photo that makes it look a bit faded.

Careful, Greg. That stuff could cause flashbacks, or fond memories perhaps. I kept hearing Jefferson Airplane singing Go Ask Alice in my head while looking at those.
