Celluloid, I need it! Lemme see your's...

My one knife with some celluloid, an Imperial:

Absolutely stunning.

Thanks man! It was pretty inexpensive to grab off the 'bay. I like those little integral bolsters, and the celluloid's really pretty. The pen blade is a nail-breaker though.

I'm not sure if these two knives have celluloid handles. They are certainly not bright and multi-colored as seen in some celluloid. The Schrade Walden on the bottom does exhibit the characteristic shrinkage of celluloid (as better seen in the next two pictures). The A. W. Wadsworth & Sons on top was made prior to the factory being seized by the Nazi party in 1936, and the handles are called french ivory.

The Aurora Optima fountain pen in the middle is a newer, more stable formula, although the original barrel had to be replaced because of cracking at the bottom near the piston knob. Earlier versions of this pen had considerable shrinkage problems.

This is why I'm so afraid of celluloid... Look what those two knives have done to that steel frog! It was shiny before he set them down there for the photo!! ;) :D

Jokes aside, I don't have any celluloid in my collection. ...yet.

What's the best way to preserve celluloid-handled knives?
