Centofante 4 pocket clip

I recently got a Centofante 4 and have really been enjoying this knife. I love the wharncliffe blade and the handle is extremely comfortable.

After a few days of EDC though, my BM710 went back in my pocket because as much as I like the C4, it's just not a heavy duty knife. Six days out of the week the C4 may be all the knife I need, but there's always one day where I really need something tough.

With all that said, this is quickly becoming one of my favorite knives and I find myself reaching for it all the time when I'm at home.

The only thing I wish to change about it is the pocket clip. I think it's a very elegant knife but the black coated clip doesn't add anything to the aesthetics. I'd like to be able to find an SS clip for it to match the bug inlay on the other side of the handle.

Spyderco CS said the clip from the SS Endura 4 may fit the Centofante, but looking at pictures on the website, I don't think the screw holes are in the right place. Am I wrong and will it fit? Or is there another clip out there that will?

I'd like to avoid buffing or stipping the coating if I can, but if I have to I will. And if I do end up stripping the coating, what's the best method to go about it and how well finished will the steel under the coating be?

Thanks for any help and ideas.

If seen a few methods for stripping the coatings.

One was to leave in nail polish remover for a few days. Scrub remainder off.

Two was to spray with oven cleaner (easy-off for example) for a few days. Scrub remainder off after soak.

Three was to use a small power tool like a Dremel and a wire wheel.

All seemed to work.

I have used Citri-Strip to remove the coating from clips. I let it soak overnight and used a piece of scotchbrite to remove what the stripper did not take of. The scothchbrite left a nice satin finish on the clip that doesn't show scratches near as bad as the black.

It's really easy to do, here's some pics and such.

I love the way it looks on my Delica, used a dremel wire brush after soaking in nail-polish remover.

EDIT: For a even better pic, look here.

I decided to try some various stripping methods (shirt first, pants first, etc.). I got out two Spydercos that I've EDC'd in the past that have pretty banged up clips.

This is the first, a Golden Native. I stripped it with 400 grit sandpaper and I'm pretty pleased with the results. There's still some scratches that need to be buffed out, but I can't find any higher grit paper at the moment.

Pardon the photo quality, it's late and I just took a picture without too much thought behind it.

I've got the clip and barrel screw from my Endura soaking in some acetone right now, so we'll see which method I like better once that one's finished. The only reason I didn't go right for the C4 is, like the higher grit sand paper, I'm having some difficulty putting my hands on some torx bits at the moment (they're around here somewhere).

I've never really had a reason to care who knows I'm carrying a knife, so the SS clips don't bother me. Interestingly enough, my EDC BM710 has a really banged up clip that I have no desire in replacing or stripping... gives te knife character.

Assuming the Cento IV uses the same hole pattern as the Vesuvius, then the hole pattern on the D4SS clip is the closest there is to it. Even it may not work, or you may have to do a bit of work with a needle file, as the Vesuvius uses a very tightly spaced hole pattern.
