I was pretty bummed out about not being able to make it down to the Austin show this year, but being able to see some pics of the event helped ease the disappointment. The pics are courtesy of show organizer Chris Carlson, maker Mike Johnson and Terrill Hoffman Photography.

First we have Bailey Bradshaw in the cutting demonstration executing an impressive four rope cut:

And a couple of beautiful knives - bowie and a dagger:

Next we have Big John Fitch laying waste to a 2 by 4:

And stogie-smoking southpaw Jim Crowell at the rope cut:

Snd a classic walnut-handled Crowell bowie:

And while we're on the subject of bowies, here's a nice mid-size example by Chester Darcy:

Followed by a stag and damascus S-guard by Jerome Anders:

Here we have reigning ABS World Cutting Champion Reggie Barker. You do NOT want to be the bottles:

I told you so:

Mike Johnson is next with an impressive back-handed 5-bottle cut. Notice how level his blade has stayed through all the bottles:

And a couple of Mike's knives - terrific coffin handled bowie and a hunter:

Here's a slick and pointy fighter by Brion "Too Tall" Tomberlin:

And a couple of nice folders, first by

and finally, by Richard Self:

Hope you enjoyed the look!

aaaaacheeemm.......it was four ropes :D , but with a Crowll bowie. I didn't have a cutter with me. Also, Terrel Hoffman did the photography. He gave each of us a copy of the pictures he took of us cutting. Great shots. The pic of Mike cutting the bottles was really cool. Mike said it was the position of his off hand that makes the cut :p

The show was a ton of fun. Not a big show, but a lot of quality. Attendance was up too. Chris tries hard every year to make it better, and I think this was one of his best yet.

Thanks Roger for posting the pics.

Roger,

Thanks for the great pictures. I'm going to try to make that show next year.

Bailey - that dagger is sweeeeet!!!

Great post Roger and great pics by Terrill too! Sounds like it was a great show and a fun time as well.

Roger, Thank you very much for the time you took to put up this thread. I am proud to say that I am the temporary owner of the Bradshaw Bowie, the Crowell Bowie and the Mike Johnson Bowie. My wife and I are the permanent owners of the Dagger. I would also like to thank all of the makers and dealers and show patrons for attending and making this show possible. Let me say also that the top folder is by Dwayne Dushane It is mine too.
