Sounds like it's on for Saturday, starting out at the Saxett Gun and Knife Show. Pappy and Berk will be there, I'll be there, and if me and Samurai Dave can work out some minor logistical issues, then by golly he'll be there too.

One of my favorite reasons for going to the gun show down in Austin is a little booth called "The Game Place". Best dadgum beef jerky and dried sausage in the whole durned universe. Never know what you'll find at that gun show. I picked up a big old bowie knife that was formerly owned by a Hollywood prop master, and while I can't prove it, it was no doubt used in the filming of a couple of old westerns. Going to mount it on a plaque with a Texas Ranger badge and give it to a buddy of mine when he retires. Picked up a hand forged bolo from the southern Phillipines for a song and presented it to a Phillipino buddy of mine when he left for Germany. I could go on and on, point is you never know what you'll find 'til you look, and that Saxett Gun & Knife Show is a good place for looking.

I know we've got a few forumites in the Central Texas area, and as always you're more than welcome to come join in the serious and not so serious discussions of blades, beer, beef jerky, etc.. Won't be half as dadgummed cold as it was last time we got together huh Berk? Maybe this time we'll lay hands on a digital camera and even post pics. If y'all need directions to the gun show I'm pretty sure the "Saxett Gun & Knife Show" has a website. I'll be standing by the front door at 0900, see y'all there.

All the years I've lived around here and, I have never been to that gun show. I have wanted to go for a long time. just seems to be something come up all the time. I think I'll make it this time.

Did you change the time to meet? 0900 is just a little early isn't it? I might be able to make it about 1000. After my wife gets her shop open. Then I'll be pretty free for a while. Sure will be glad to see you and Berk again. The next couple of days will give me a chance to check over the Bike a bit before Saturday. I won't be able to drink very much running on the bike. Still not old enough to want to die yet.

That is the show that they moved out on 290 East isn't it? Don't want to wind up in the wrong place. Check you later Sarge. Hope you can get Samurai lined out to go.:) :D

Pappy, time isn't a big problem, if you're going to be getting there around ten we'll just mosey out to the front door and meet you there (when you pay the $5 admission they stamp your hand so you can come and go all day). You got the location right, Highway 290 East just about 2-3 blocks off of I-35. Hope I didn't play up the beer bit too much, a cold beer's nice, but so is a clear head when negotiating Austin traffic. Have a safe ride and we'll see you there.

Crocket (they spell it that way, shouldn't it be Crockett?) Convention Center Saxet schedule They say it is "Just 1/2 mile east of I-35 on the 290 East access road."

I'd be there but my truck picked a great time to have a radiator leak and maybe water pump too    I'm negotiating with my wife, we might make a day of it in Austin if I don't want to spend the day fixing my truck. I spent my allowance on khuks and .308 at the show here last week, but I'd like to hang around with you guys. 9AM is pretty darn early, especially since I go to so many fun shows that I'm through in about an hour :) Is the bar open at 10?

9 is pretty early I reckon, but like I told Pappy, time isn't a big problem. Show up at 9, 10, or 11, and I'll meet you at the front door. Show up at noon however and we'll most likely be already headed to the Dog & Duck for lunch. The D&D is on the corner of 17th and Guadalupe downtown, as Berk says, "in the shadow of the State Capital". Hope you can make it.

I am lookin forward to going, but I am having some logistics problems. But as my Father once said "Nothing a good ball pien hammer wont fix!".

I think I figured it out, but we will see.

Sarge, I would love to be able to join you all at the gun show. It would be great to meet some of the guys from the forum in person, however, it's just a bit of a trek from El Paso to Austin. I'll try to make the next one. Let me know if you all decide to go to one in the future.

I got the GO on transportation last night.

I am stoked about the trip. It has been a little over a month since my last trip off campus and it will be a needed break.

Man this is gonna be FUN! :D

Then look for a little gold Ford Ranger pick up with a big grinning idiot behind the wheel.:D ;) :D

Uncle, since I'm driving I'll only be drinking two, but the first one will be a Heineken in your honor and to your good health.

Dang, sorry man, but I know how it goes. Not all bad though, you do have a new .308 that needs sighting in.:D

Sure wish you could have made it Pisi. I don't know where Occupied Tejas is but, if it isn't too far we can try for another weekend later on.

I'm getting a little antsy to get the bike moving.

Glad you are going to be able to make it Samurai. See you tomorrow.:) :)

Occupied Texas is the parts where you can't swing a khukuri (even a 12"'er :barf: ) without hitting a damnYankee :D In other words, deep in the DFW metroplex.

And sadly Sarge, I don't have a new .308, but rather some new .308, a case of prime South African surplus. I feel antsy when I don't have a couple of cases stacked on my position :D

Sooo, anybody know how easy it is to fix a water pump in a Dodge Ram? Can I hit it with a khuk?

Well, I can't make it to the Tejas Gathering, but I can make it to the Creek Nation Powwow @ Okmulgee today. The drums, the singin', the goodies at the vendors, the drums, the singin', the food, ndn tacos, frybread, corn on the cob, the Drums, The Singin', the Food!!!!!!! :p :D
Maybe I will blow my diet today. :p :o
