Yes it's that time again. The show is in Austin Texas at the Holiday Inn South, just off I-35 at Woodward. The dates are August 6-8. Chris Carlson is the promoter and will chime in on how to get more information.
It has become a very nice, personable size show with about 80 tables. It is adorned with the very best antique knife dealers such as Jim Seargent, Joe Seal, Tony Foster and Burce Voyles. Also the list of custom makers is impressive. Robert Blasingame, Chester Darcey, Brad Duncan, Richard Epting, Jason Howell, Jerome Anders( MS), Jarrel Lambert (MS), Brion Tomberlin, From Japan..Masao Takahashi, Bailey Bradshaw (MS), Jim Crowell (MS), John Fitch (MS), Pete Peterson, Reggie Barker (Curent World Cutting title holder), John Ownby, Jerry Halfrich, Bill Keller, Michael Johnson, JB Moore, Pat Paterson, Johnny Stout, Harvey Dean (MS) , John Horrigan, Ken Liton, Alan Warren, James Parks, Curtis Wilson, Lloyd McConnel, Weldon Whittley, Bill Rupple, Gayle Bradley, Carlton Evans, Don Morrow, and Wallace Pollock. Bill Rupple will do a demo on filework, and I am conductiong a discussion on engraving. There will also be an Auction on Saturday night.
The list of makers gives a great variety in the style of knives offerered, from fine multiblade folders to lockbacks to linerlocks to forged fixed blades. Takahashi is one of the best makers of Loveless style knives going, and they are very underpriced for the quality.
Not to mention Austin is a really cool place to visit if you are into history, the music sceen, watersports ( Schlitterbahn water park is not far) or if you just like the hill country of Texas.
I have attended every year it has been in existance, and have watched it grow both in quality of makers and in attendace. All in all, this is my favorite show to display at.
Ya'll come down, and see how we do it in Texas!!
