Cerakote Epoxy handle grippyness

Hello, I have a few knives coming back from heat treat soon.
Four of them are in carbon steel and I have a friend that will coat them in Cerakote.
I assume you coat the whole knife before attaching the handle.
My question is: How well does epoxy stick to Cerakote? Will scuffing the handle portion with sandpaper increase the bond between the epoxy and the handle material?

The adhesion should be fine but I would definitely prep the surface with a good scuffing, like 80 grit.
