I have seen this promo before and it's misleading at best.
To say that a paint is more durable than ion bond coating is absurd.
Ion bond is also much tougher than bluing and parkerizing. As a matter of fact, Ion bond is tougher than anything on that list!
I tend to agree w/ you Bill... I don't think there were enough stated controls. From the research I have done it looks like all I can find is that the tests were done to ASTM standards by an "independent military testing facility". The ionbond part was probably defective or something, not sure if they applied themselves or had ionbond do it? anyway, I have also searched for tests done showing that these other companies products exceed Cerakote (done by them or anyone) but can't seem to find them either - you would think IonBond and other companies would want to do some in house testing and publish the results if these are false but maybe it's just not a big enough market to waste the time...
This guy (a certified cerakote applicator) also agrees that DLC and the like are better... however, there are ppl on both sides of the fence w/ experience in both.
nonetheless Cerakote is a good coating option w/ a lot of colors and wears well, but it's not DLC.
