Has anyone ever used one of these? It looks like it would be VERY compact (good for backpacking), although it is only good for 40 minutes on a charge, it sounds like.

Opinions?

Never used one, but checked one out once at my local WalMart. It's not as compact as you would think, and imo heavy (at 1 pound). Personally, I'm much better off with my MSR, or if I'm travelling really light, my canteen stove or Esbit. I'd also be concerned with possible leakage in my pack.

Personally, I think it would make a better car camping stove.

Whoa! Silly me. I didn't catch that it weighs a pound (without fuel).

Car camping, yeah, that's different. But then I'm not concerned (much) with size.

Oh well... MSR's hard to beat, anyway.

I happen to have one of these. It would not go with me on any extended back packing trip because of its weight. It isn't super efficient either. That is it does not put out as much heat per ounce of weight as many other stoves. On the plus side, it is ultra convenient, and compact/simple enough to toss it in an emergency car kit and keep it with you. I have also taken it on trips that require only a short walk in places that frown on an open fire especially during certain parts of the season...

Yeah, I picked one of these up on an order from there. It is sort of handy for car camping, but not too user friendly or efficient. For the price, I can't complain, but I'm glad I didn't pay any more for it.
