I think it is a nice rare knife, but a wee bit pricey for my blood. This is one that was shown at SHOT, if I am not mistaken. I think it was a one-off at that time, but maybe a few more were made before the meltdown (a very few) I have no idea of the value. I guess that is up to the guys who have a lot more money than I. You guys might want to save pics of it and follow the auction. You may never see another. It is indeed, the ultimate Anniversary knife.

Very interesting...

The dude who is high bidder right now. Look at his other buys. They are all over the place. $400-$800 for some knives, and $29.50 for the wholesale POS package. Doesn't look right to me. Who knows, maybe he's an eccentric millionaire, buying whatever he wants.

Maybe a kid with a stolen CC, however...

The current high bidder made 1 buy in 2003 and 1 buy in 2004. He makes no other buys until December 18, 2005, and then he makes 13 buys in the last 8 days. This could be a form of buddy bidding or ghost bidding. We'll see if he's the winner in the end.

I'm guessing the reserve was over $3000? That is the only reason I can figure why the high bidder would bid against himself in such a short period of time (10-20 second intervals).

I can't believe $3500!

If I seriously wanted that knife and was willing to pay $3500 for it, the last thing that I would want to do is bid like he did to show EVERYONE the reserve price.

Now, if I were the seller, that's exactly what I would want done, especially a day or two before the auction ends. Only the high-rollers will be left at the table in the closing minutes and now they know what it will cost to play.

That is auto-bidding. It is just showing what happened when another bidder tried tapping him to find his top bid. He did not actually bid against himself. At least that is my understanding of how it works. But I've been wrong before. I'm putting in a higher bid with Redshanks I.D. just to see. ;)

Looking at his previous bidding,he's spent over $11,040 and has been the winner in almost every auction he bid.I didn't notice multiple buys from the same seller,so I don't think it's buddy bidding.
Maybe the guy hit the Powerball in September or a rich relative died!
Redshanks is right,he sure is a dumb bidder!

Looks like credit card/ebay fraud to me. After looking at his past transactions I have a feeling that someones ebay account has been hijacked and they are using a stolen card # or #'s. If the seller ships to somewhere beside the billing address on the card then he is an idiot.

Otherwise he must have won the lotto or had some other kind of windfall because it doesn't seem right that he started purchasing high dollar knives from ebay all in the same month when he has had an account for a couple of years.

I'm thinking hijacked account as well. This would be a textbook case.

At least one of the auctions he bid on was Paypal-only. Maybe he plans to do a charge back against Paypal.
