If Spyderco is going to run a CF Military - they should figure out how to do a matte finish on the CF.
The ongoing practice of doing the CF runs with a gleaming finish is not only very non-military, but it leads to some pretty nasty-looking work at screw, pivot and thong holes.
Sal, is this a choice, a price-point thing, or what?
Benchmade put out their 770's with a a two-tone CF finish, matte on the sculpted areas, gleaming on the flats. :barf:
The more recent 940 models had fully sculpted CF handles, so the gleaming finish normally found on the flats was not there - good. Unfortunately, the 940 has a lot of surface detail work which is not well suited to CF and so there was a lot of leftover surface splinter, white areas where the CF was chopped up by a milling machine - etc. You get the point. I loved the design by was very put off by the way the CF was finish. So, good tool, but I didn't like the details.
I know we can't have everything, but is there a good reason why the CF is left with that plasticky finish?
