Hey, does anyone know if they ever made a police model with carbon fiber handles? I seem to remember seeing one, but not sure. Might have been after market too I suppose. Thanks.

There was a run of them, IIRC 1500 pieces total, made a few years back. Some were plain edge, some serrated and a smaller number of each type were left handed.

I know it for sure as I've both C07CF Police models - one in plain and one in serrated. Nope, no after market - original Spyderco from 2003 :)

Peter 1960 I'm envious:) CF is my favorite scale material and the Police is one of my favorite designs. I think a sprint run of the Police with matt CF like that found on the Caly3 would generate alot of excitement.

Dan Barnes...Where did you get that last name?:D:D

I came across a PE CF Police and just had to get it. It felt much lighter than the SS version. The G-10 versions are pretty cool too but they are flat grind.

there are 4 CF police models, PE and SE righthanded; PE and SE lefthanded. There are also G10 Police Models with the standard blade shape

I just picked up a new SS serrated Police off the exchange and lo and behold a bunch of Police threads with some awesome pics.

I usually much prefer G10 or CF for handles and PE but for a Police I feel that the SS serrated is the classic model that epitomizes the model. It is perfect as a concealed weapon with the SS handles being so slim and looking like a little gents knife tucked into a suit pant pocket. I also think the Civilian should have serrated edges.
Another big plus on my current Police is the lack of a bunch of ugly holes everywhere.

i feel ya, imho the civvy and police just dont look right PE.

FWIW i had a CF SE police a few yrs ago and swapped it off for something or another, wish i had it back lol.

I never really felt the Rookie.

Now a matched set of CF Police serrated and PE now that I can get behind.

I don't know, maybe the Rookie was the wrong name/metaphor. Rather than going with the person angle Police (officer) and Rookie, maybe if they had gone with the tool metaphor it might have had a resonance of Police (sidearm) and Backup (piece). Maybe even going with the name "Police Backup" instead of Rookie.

This might have given the rookie a more serious image. Just some speculation for what it's worth.

It is not the name "Rookie" I don't like I just don't think it works as well as a short blade as say a Delica.
