I'd agree with you on the blocked Spyderhole, and just the fact it's a handed lock is enough to keep it off my want list. However, I did own one and have to say that, as odd as the handle looks, it is extremely secure in any of the four common grips.$165, more or less. At least one vendor is taking pre-orders.
Because of my high standards, I won't purchase any Spydie with an obscured Spydie hole. I don't get the design on this one, either.
i think its pretty cool looking.
hope it has a multi position clip.
I like to looks of the original handle better (black aluminum) however due to it's better grip, lighter weight, and super strength, I would choose the carbon fiber.
This is one of the first generation with pins closed construction and a metal spine. The second generation had no spine (open construction) and screws instead of pins. Then there is this sprint run.
I've been carrying my CF that I bought over 3 weeks ago and have no plans on changing anytime soon.
I have found the Shabaria to be a VERY practical design and the blade is far from fragile, the spine stays thick until almost the tip, easily in the medium duty category. I love it!
If anyone is on the fence...
