CFK Knives....Any Thoughts or Opinions on These EBay Knives?

I love watching threads slowly descend into petty arguments about what a forum is and how you're supposed to use it.

Or

We could talk about the subject of the thread.

Agreed....and that's what I did, or at least, tried to do. Also, at least I actually have the blade to be able to make an informed opinion of it...not Monday-morning-quarterback it without ever having put a fingerprint on it [like many do]. I just love that guy that thinks they know the quality of a knife, never having even seen it in person. It's ok to have a general opinion..."like the design....hate the steel used...." etc and whatever. I'm no different in some respects - I can't see spending a thousand dollars on a blade, simply because it has __this guy's__ name on it. They act like the thing is the little brother to King Arthur's sword - Excalibur

...the arrogance and ignorance is astounding in some people [including me at times].

There will always be a troll who will try and derail a topic or comment by unsubstantiated claims and innuendo. I made a simple mistake and recanted what I said...but like always, when someone does make a mistake, someone always has to go full retard about it.

Anyway, over the next few weeks I'll be beating the absolute crap out of this knife. Like it or hate it, I will definitely let you all know exactly what I think of it and you can then decide for yourselves.

I look forward to you review, druid189.

These knives as described on CFK's website as:

"Our Damascus is forged and treated in England for a combination of hardness without being brittle. The D2 and 1095 High Carbon are sourced in Europe. Craftsmen assemble the final knife with the components on-hand to insure extremely short run knives, each hand made. Each knife is built very well. We are located in Oregon, USA. CFK offers a Lifetime Replacement "

They say nothing about where the blades are ground. They state that the knives are assembled elsewhere and they don't say exactly where. Based on the price and lack of origin on knife, I would say most likely Pakistan. Also interesting is that if you want to buy a knife you are directed to their ebay store. I suggest you read thre feedback over the last 12 months, both the neutral and negatives.
Remarkably, the knives are not sold at a set price like most ebay stores but by bidding, which conceivably could end up higher than you expected, and the shipping costs appear pretty high as well.

Frankly put, while the knives "may" be great, with all the other established knife companies out there I wouldn't touch this brand. Just my opinion.

This reminds me of the guy that had a couple of accounts that was selling Pakistani "Damascus" knives by the truck load for next to nothing, also from Oregon, but with an IP address that originated in Pakistan. SOme similar styles and craftsmanship going on here. Maybe just magic.

I can post in a public forum any way I like, so long as it remains remotely constant with the topic and within the confines of the form rules.

And the forum rules prohibit racism/bigotry. Which saying Pakistani = Taliban is.

Leave it be. Them guys take great offense when people don't fall in line with them and believe every word they read and repost. Your last paragraph is what really scares the ever livin crap out of them. You plan on developing your own view based on actual experience. Something I think they have little of them self, they just fall in line and and so should you. Just read what they have, it's true, it's on the Internet.

I don't get where they come from but just lol at them, they are misguided, they don't even know why they reply.

As to the topic, thanks for taking the time to stay true and find out for yourself. None of their knives are my style but I'd rather learn about them from someone who has one and will report on its performance than someone looking for a reason to be offended. Serves us all much better to read of actual experience and they should be thanking you to take the time on planning to report how it does, or doesn't do, I do thank you. Don't let them draw you in. I seen nothing offensive in any of your posts.

When you figure out why the crack ended in the blade and the meth started, let us know ;) I'm curious too lol.
