CFK USA Custom Handmade D2 USMC Vietnam Right-Hand Navy Seal Combat Knife ?

I think you would be hard pressed to find a 1/16" thick D2 or VG10 blade that's 7" long. A KaBar D2 Extreme knife is pretty close to what you are asking for, they run about $100 I think.

Look into Scrapyard Knives, stay away from eBay regarding information on knives of buying them there.

Pretty sure you don't forge D2.

Also, Sandvik doesn't make D2 AFAIK.

Also, Sandvik is Swedish, not German.

Sounds like a bunch of flowery marketing speak.

Since you usually search for the items you want on the auction site, it's probably to make it easier for people to find the items they are looking for. Without a very descriptive name, it'd be next to impossible to find on the auction site.

And that's what I meant by "sucker bait" earlier on in the thread. Suck in uninformed buyers. Its like anything else, one just needs to do some research before a buy, and not buy on marketing.

Just look at it this way, the TOPS Tom Brown Tracker, which is a fully factory produced and licensed designed knife costs $210 on BladeHQ. The "hand made" clone CFK makes from a Swedish German American steel is $20.

Going on what Scurvy said, D2 is made in America by Crucible Industries. It's not made by Sandvik, or made in Germany.

These are knockoffs, pure and simple. I asked the name of the custom maker of these knives. The reply was "They are custom made by one of my workers in the shop". So much for custom knives. And I am sure that many people who buy them like them, as a vast majority of people do not know what a quality, custom knife is. For that matter even a quality production knife. And I don't expect them to unless they are cutlery enthusiasts as we are here. Bottom line is if you like it, it is good. But unfortunately these knives are most likely not what they claim to be.

HERE is a link that talks a little about CFK. I don't know if they still are, but they were selling blatant ripoffs of Jerry Hossom's designs, Todd Hunt, and others. You don't buy handground or handmade whatever they call it D2 or quality Damascus knives of that size and complexity for $120. Or $89 or whatever they have on there.

When a company says this, it is the sign to stay away. From a sales post on the bay:

"For items that are used, tested, sharpened, broken or damaged by the buyer (this includes losing the original box or sheath that came with the item), there will be no refunds given or exchanges made. DO NOT open a case on EBay to return a item. Just Message or Email us with your order # and we will take care of you!"

"WARRANTIES: None of the items we sell have warranties unless stated in the auction. For items that are used, tested, sharpened, broken or damaged by the buyer there will be no refunds or returns."

8000+ like with 8 visits... Someone is buying likes...

Yep. There are all kinds of services available nowadays to help the slimey grifter types create new identities and established business reputations with happy customers and lots of friends who like and approve of you. You can buy good ratings and bury complaints underneath sham customers giving good reviews. These services are advertised with advert. like : "Why let an unhappy customer ruin your ratings?" You can also buy higher results on google searches.

I came across another CFK "custom" knife by accident searching for Boy Scout knives. Here is some of what I saw on that auction page:

Sale by "cfk-cutlery-company "

CFK USA Custom Handmade 1/4" D2 Vietnam Long Range Recon Scout Bowie Knife

Country of Manufacture: United States

This knife is 100% hand forged and hand crafted for us in England.

This knife's blade is 100% handmade of German Sandvik D2, and forged for us in England.

WARRANTIES: None of the items we sell have warranties unless stated in the auction. For items that are used, tested, sharpened, broken or damaged by the buyer there will be no refunds or returns. If there is a manufacturing warranty with the item, the warranty will be accepted via the manufacturer and the buyer, we will not accept warranty returns via our address.

The pictures show that the knife is branded "U.S.A."

So on a single sale page this scammer says the knife is made in U.S.A. and entirely in England of a steel that does not seem to exist according to Sandvik.

As for "Vietnam Long Range Recon Scout Bowie Knife," it's all lies except "knife."

Run. RUN away.

And this is relevant to a claim that Sandvik sells "D2" how?

The comparable steel that Sandvik sells is 19C27. They sure do not call it "D2." And while in the same class, it is signicantly different in chemistry.

If you're worried so much about the weather an fires, which you should be, why are you here asking about a knife, then blaming your attitude on the worries?

I've seen them online. I am in the same camp of skepticism. I will but from 'low end' companies like Condor because you get more than what you pay for. But when they claim the quality of a custom blade at those prices, I doubt their claims. I don't want to waste $50 to $80 bucks to find out.

If you like that blade, buy a KABAR, get to work on stripping and polishing, and you'll have a proven knife as pretty as that. And you can rely on it working.

images.jpgIf you don't mind a slightly shorter but still similar knife, look at the Boker Plus Mark2 knifie. Same exact pattern as the KABAR, because they were a WWII supplier of it, but polished an prettied. Their knives are great quality.

I own 238 knives from all over the world low mid and high end, I also have a few CFK damascus and D2 blades and they are really nice! They made a marketing mistake because the D2 is DIN 1.2379 and the mistake was made because they sell alot of damascus knives made from 1095 HC and Sandvik 15N20 who Sandvik eventually stopped making it and now they use a better quality 15n20 from Uddeholm. And to tell you the truth I hav many other D2 knives that I sharpened and thats how I know its D2 there is no mistake there. RCH 62-63 chopped 4 16 penny nails in half with one chop no damage to edge! I bid on a large tanto tracker type 1/4 in. D2 won it for $35.00 they dont put buy it now prices on seconds or blemished knives they just auction them off so look real good at all the pic's if you decide you want to spend a bit on a knife you like for a collectable (wall hanger) or whatever. But bottom line after owning these knives I have nothing negative to say about CFK.

You have nothing negative to say about the knives that you sell? I hope not. Self-loathing is sad.

But thank you for giving more incentive to out the fraud that is CFK.
