CFM Guide

I am runnig 660 cfm with 1hp and I wish I had a bit more. The 660 cfm rating is before anything is hooked up. I run about 30' of 4" pipe with 6-8' 2" lines going to my equipment and could really use double. I use gate valves so I only have one line active at a time.

To really determine what you need you need to see the fan curve. that will tell you what will happen as you connect equipment. A 600 cfm with 2hp will pull more than a 600 cfm with 1hp since it can handle more pressure drop.

This link shows the drop in volume vrs pressure drop I guess its inches of water. http://www.kraemertool.com/datahots2l.htm

Thanks Patrick, thats what I was afraid of, and why I'm only running one line at a time, but when we have some more funds we can connect another unit serially to the line, yup???

You will probably want to connect in parallel, serial will give you more pressure drop but not increase the volume. I think the first fan will prevent you getting much help from the second. In parallel they will both pull 600 cfm and will see the same pressure drop, this will double the volume less additional friction loss.

Thanks Patrick, you're right, how on earth I said parallel
