I'm sure you guys are probably getting tired of Mistress threads. I'm thinking I better get a Mistress too. Only one for now, before prices start going up. I've searched back thru old threads. The general consensus seems to be the CG FBM with the CBT's, seems to be the most recommended and versatile mistress. With the FBMLE coming in a close 2nd. Is this still how everyone feels?

The NMFBM is pretty cool. Since I have a NMSFNOLE now, maybe I need the biggest and baddest Battle Mistress.
But it probably won't see a lot of hard use, and may be carried on hikes at times also. So, thanks guys. :D

I hiked all over the Uncompaghre Nat'l Forest in Colorado with the CGFBM on my pack. It's just the right dimensions to be almost unnoticeable weight-wise, yet is a highly effective cutter and chopper. It lasers through heavy green vegetation, brush, windfalls, ground cover, etc., without feeling clumsy or tiring.:thumbup:

If you don't mind a little extra weight, go for the FFFBM. It looks better than the CG in my opinion. If you can afford it though, find the LE!

I'd say they all pretty much will do the same job. The NMFBM migth chop a little better due to length, and the FFBM due to weight. The CGFBM gets more exposure due to the fact they are the least expensive of the ones mentioned and there were more of them made.

I wanted the CGFBM above the others because I couldn't get over how cool they look with the CBTs and curvy spine. Kinda like the Hellrazor's big brother (sister?).

How come there is no option for a SHBM??? :p

Out of what you've listed... CG FBM all the way.

My FFBM and my NMFBM either stay in the truck or on yard duty due to their weight.
For carry / hike, I like the CG FBM as it's less noticable weight wise.

If you don't like the CBT, you could try and hunt down one of these...
It's the 2008 SE FBM from the ganza and has a beveled clip point versus
sharpened on the 08SEs sold at Blade. It's full hight ground, satin
and .270" thick. Feels as light and lively in that hand as the CG FBMs do. ;)

Oh... good luck if you do hunt for one of these beveled beauties...
I have only seen 4 of them.

.

THis is just my 2 cents.

THe cgfbm is only worth having if it has mags. Otherwise, its handle is too thin.

THe Best in the lighter mistress class with fusion handles ,since those are the only choices, is the 2008 SE. It's a cg thick, full height, satin cgfbm with mags. Put it in a zebra sheath, and its to die for.

THe FBMLE is a brute and maybe my favorite buts thats just because Ive used it the most.

how appropriate......just as I am thinking of the 2008 SE.

Foo post it!

I loved my CG FBM but I couldn't get past the magnum handles. They were all kinds of uncomfortable. Thats why I got a Basic 9.

I've owned one of each version in the poll. The one I liked the least, and the one I sold off, was the CGFBM. It just didn't do anything for me. It might have been because it had the standard slabs, but it just never felt right in my hand. I still have my FFBM, my FMBLE, and my NMFBM. They're more or less equal in my heart. The LE looks the best, the NMFBM is probably the best chopper, and the FFBM is just a brute of a knife. They're all good.
I voted for the NMFBM, because it may be the most useful- it has the longer reach, and feels lighter than it actually is. The hand-shaped slabs are probably more comfortable in use.

I voted for the CG FBM, but the NMFBM is just an awsome knife and I think its my new favorite.

I sold my FFBM because it was too heavy to be practical.

For me the most useful BM is the NMFBM...in that size of knife it is the fastest to get the job done...if you can carry any of them...you may as well carry the biggest. It is balanced and feels good with a slightly less deep but longer blade...and I have had all of them...and still have a FBM Satin Combat ( like a LE flat grind )...which is the next in line for me.

I also have a Basic 9 but for me it is more in the league of a FSH.... weight and performance wise.

I hate ridges and I hate painted blades but I still think the CGFBM the best Mistress so far. I ground off the paint and ridges. Maybe it would be better if it was 3/16 instead of 1/4. The FBM never came in 3/16 and the Zero Tolerance was too light.

i vote for the CGFBM:thumbup: with the CBTs

to be fair i have only used the ergo version and this one:grumpy:

I like the CG simply because it looks so cool and I got to beat the snot out of Jaxx awesome beauty. I am so lusting after the Muddy that Border Shift has on the X.

By specifying 'versitile' the FBM CG tops the list. The FFBMs didn't appeal to me as much as the CG and the LE. My NMFBM LE will out perform the others in a large percentage of big knife chores but you still have to carry it and it's no light weight.
