What purpose do the ridges along the blade serve, are they just eye candy. Do they strengthen the overall blade.
Do the ridges cut down on the slicing/ chopping capabilities veruses the other BM's.

Cuts down on weight while helping strengthening the blade and cutting down on problems like the blade getting stuck when chopping.

Sounds Logical I never thought about that. I guess the ridges would spread the wood or whatever your chopping open more. It could'nt be that much lighter could it. Thanks,

That that much weight, but a little lighter.

It is indeed good for wood or anything else that tends to pinch the blade as it goes through, since the medium will only touch the tops of the CBTs, thus less surface area contact and less friction.

They probably do add some lateral strength to the blade, but I think they add weight if anything, as they seem to be above the rest of the grind, not cut into it.

Another bonus is if you like to use your big blade for everything, they provide a good gripping surface when you choke up and grab the blade for fine work.

Yeah I can see where that would work pretty well if you wanted to choke-up on the blade, For more close up work.

Add to the fact that it's the favorite BM for a lot of us. :D

It's balance, weight and chopping ability are the best compromise of any of the BM's IMO.

It's a chopping machine. :)

May have to pick one up in the near future, too many irons in the fire right now. I've got a Fbmle and a Nmfsh comming in next week, so kinda strapped right now.

I would say so.

Congrats on your scores. :D

Thanks,:D I think the hardest part is the wait, kinda like a kid in a candy store around here. I just love those smooth bolts I've been seeing around here.

The waiting is the hardest part, but they are always worth the wait. :D

OK, I have to ask...

What is this NMFSH of which you speak?

.

They cut great with ridges. Prime rib doesn't stick, but cheesecake is another matter.:D

Cheesecake sticks to everything. :D

How could anyone pass one of these up, they are a work of art IMO?

Sorry LIL'FOO I think I meant to say HHFSHSE 2008 GREX if I'm correct. And that's an awfully big knife for cheese cake. But hey whatever floats your boat, or you've got a double extra large cheesecake! hahaha!
