Made this one sometime back but kept it hanging around for some shows, etc....

I forged this one out of 5 Oregon Brand chainsaw chains. The resulting blade is a "classic" 9.5" long with a chainsaw guard from the same billet. The handle is Sambar and the buttcap is wrought iron courtesy of Bruce Evans and a salvaged wagon wheel. The handle pin is 01 drill rod.

The stag has a curve for right handed use....not bad for lefties though!

Here are some pics of the knife....and a closeup of the pattern.

Comes with a Bagwell style leather sheath.

SOLD....thanks

Dude, you're killing me today! I saw this a while back and absolutely fell in love with it.

Greg, Thats outstanding !

I have collected a lot of chainsaw blades over the last several months and now im ready to forge some up. What do you do to prepare your blades before forge welding. That chainsaw gets all kinds of dirty, oil, rusty.

Thanks for sharing the pics on that beauty.

I just bundled it up...grease and all!

I would recommend burning it out though....horrible safety hazard, but put in a metal bucket with some gas or kerosene and burn it.

I'm using a press....so I recommend some hammering here and there to get it closed up tight.

I just thought I would say that I have a similar piece to this one and it is outstanding.
I dont think anyone could be dissapointed w/ Gregs work.
