chainsaw bars?

i just finished the holes in the tang and have decided to continue, I wanted to make my first from spring stock. Maybe next time.
 
I'm just about done the shaping-looks great! I am curious what oil to use, will the old motor oil in my garage work or should I go with some thing better ( I dont really want to buy quench specific oil) how fast should it be?
 
Finish it up and make your next one from some O-1 or 5160. Using an unknown steel is counterproductive. Go see the fellow at the chain saw store and get the names of some of those "a lot of knifemakers ask for them" makers and you might be able to find a person to help you learn,as well as a source for better steel and equipment. Good luck.

BTW: 1095 and 5160 are very different steels and have different HT specs.
