Chainsaw for camp firewood

What a dual dog/bucking/felling/bumper spikes upgrade looks like.

Collector,
LOL! Wait until you learn about CAD....(Chainsaw Acquisition Disorder), and saw porting...... Do you have a large car garage with lots of empty shelf space? I do not even HAVE a woodstove nor do I get paid to cut anything, yet I still have 3 saws!! I used to live on farms and burn a lot of wood/clear fence rows but no more- yet I still keep a few saws around.

The dogs are really just used for digging in on cuts.

It all starts out, with one Saw. :D

Knife collecting takes up less room. :D

My collection was started in about 1980 and consists of about 1500 units plus all the related items I can get, IPL's, manuals, literature, gizmo's and gadgets.

Awesome thread.. now I know what to ask the wife for my birthday next month. Just need to figure out which one now. Stihl dealer just down the road.. thinking a visit is in order.

Damn near 40yrs old and not a single chainsaw!

555,
whoa... I mean.... just... whoa.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess the only "interesting" saw I ever even got to handle was a Sachs Dolmar Wankle engined saw. It still ran and looked great. Everything else has just been garden vareity stuff.

Hawk,
I do not know your specific needs or budget but the new MS261(professional build quality) gets great marks from guys who know better than me. The 290 also gets decent comments on a limited use- homeowner marketed saw. All saw manufactureres target different models for folks with different needs. PLEASE do some reading on saftey gear and proper use, saws are wonderful to run but can create horrific wounds in the blink of an eye.... think tablesaws and band saws with a wider blade and moving towards you as they cut.
I wear: boots, gloves, chaps, hard hat with face shield, ear plugs and clear saftey glasses. I have never cut myself but HAVE had several dead limbs bounce off my hat and body when felling trees. & I have cut a couple pairs of boots...

FYI: The saw collection above is not mine. I own and use saws, and do not have them for collection proposes.

I find these chainsaw collections on the web and find them interesting.

555, Oh gotcha. Yes some of the guys at Arborist Site have some serious collections but 1500 is more than I have ever seen at one place.

I'm still recovering from BRD lol.

I only get to use my chainsaw when I go camping but I grew up playing/hunting/fishing/camping the Boreal Forest were a chainsaw was a joy to own. I miss the northern forest!

LOL that's like a 40 year old virgin!

Check for reconditioned saws or ebay sellers that have saws from closed businesses. You should be able to find a Husqvarna or Stihl for about $150.

I've got a 40cc Husky with an 18" bar. Only chainsaw I've ever had, so I don't have anything to compare it too. I like it, although I haven't used it too much. Here's a photo. The logo has since worn off the bar:
