Have been a fan of Poulon chainsaws for years. Except now my Wild Thing died after about 4 years of light use. So I am in market for a reasonably priced saw that will hopefully last a little longer. Any suggestions?

Poulon makes a Pro saw for a cheap price, anybody own one?

being a chainsaw operator, I can say this, please please please get any saw other than Poulan.

ECHO makes good priced chainsaws for the homeowner, and they are WELL MADE, and affordable, not to mention you can easily maintain and repair them.

if you spend a little more, you can get a good basic STIHL or Husky chainsaw that will last forever with basic maintenance

Echo/Stihl/Dolmar/Makita/Efco all make good saws.....Poulan Pro might be ok, otherwise...run from Poulan as Bushman has said. What size bar/saw combo are you looking at?

Got a Stihl that was my grandfather's, he died in 92, saw is still running strong. Chris

Stihl or Husky which ever one has a dealer you feel comfortable with.

I had a GREAT dealer that carried Husky and I have no regrets.

Some of the small huskys are made overseas I believe, and from experience have found them to be hit or miss. The big pro saws are great though....imho

No love for Husqvarna? Mine has been awesome.

i'm a big Husky fan! my venerable husky 61 is over 30 years old, and was used for the first 25 years by a logger. I used it ever since and it still roars. Needs a new clutch and bar now.....

I want to get a 3120XP and put a 20" bar on it for kicks and giggles.... :D

I have been in the tree industry all my life from cutting firewood as a kid to logging (1st helicopterlogging crew east of the miss) to hazard tree removal commercial and residential specializing in golf courses. I started with a homlite, through poulan(1st chainsawwound at 13)and the others JD, husky, jonsered and finally Stihl.

You can't go wrong with a STIHL,,,,,but now you have to pick a model

My opinion is to not waste your money on anything other than a Stihl chainsaw and be done with it. I don't believe the new Echo machines are as good as the old ones. I had an Echo for many years that finally got to be such a pain just to get started and even more of a pain to get started after it warmed up that I bought the Stihl. Its been with me quite a few years now also and I must say of all the saws I've owned its the best of the best. I have had Poulan, Husqavarna, and others and can't say they compare. Better yet get two. There is nothing better than a good 18" bar saw backed up by a smaller hand held one in case you get one stuck. Out here in black jack oak territory the trees get hollow in the middle and at times you hit one with a bunch of water in it. It will seize up a saw and warp a bar in seconds when that happens so its necessary to have two so you can free the stuck one.

After years of running and still owning USA made Homlites.
Years ago I make the switch to STIHL's. When I'm out cutting I always have more than one saw with me. Most have 20" Bars which can handle everything I have to cut.

If you can afford it, do yourself a favor and buy a good saw, you won't be sorry.

Stihl or Husky. I have both and they're worth the price. I use about 9 cords of wood a year so they get a workout. Also, pay the extra and get the professional series of either brand.

BTW There are some small engine EPA Regulations taking effect in 2010 from what I hear, so if you see something you like you may want to buy it now.

When I bought a Stihl MS361 last year I was told this saw won't be sold in the states after 2010 because it doesn't meet the new standards.
