Chainsaw

A responsible dealer network is important to owning a chainsaw. Big boxes sell a lot of other brands, but they don't service or offer parts. A good chain saw solves all that, there's usually more than one guy in the area selling parts, you can get them, and you won't need too often because it's not junk.

I've had a Stihl Farmboss for years, don't even drain it, replaced the bar every third chain along with the drive cog. I sharpen my own chains and get all the work out of it that a fireplace and tornado can dish out. It's still on the original spark plug. My neighbor has gone through two other brands since I moved next door, all from box stores. They broke.

I really can't afford to live like him, there's no keeping up.

I have only seen two STIHL's that were messed up or broken. The first one had a tree fall on it (destroyed beyond repair) and the second fell out of the frontend bucket on the tractor, the chain and blade was then run over. I used it a couple weeks later working on a drainage ditch. :D
